Four Institutes Set This Week End and Next Week
Clermont county farmers have several events this week end and next week with four institutes on the schedule. The Marathon Institute features six sessions this Friday and Saturday headlined by a Saturday night play The Black Cats. Owensville Institute runs Monday and Tuesday January 13 and 14 with talks by Mrs. C R Milner and W H Matthews. Newtonsville Institute January 15 and 16 brings Mrs Milner and Mr Matthews to the Baptist church with Happy Hollow on stage and other features. Amelia hosts the final institute Friday and Saturday with Della Moats and Matthews as state speakers along with music from the Amelia school band and Batavia quartet. A Saturday night session offers a special speaker and entertainment.

Ripley tobacco market reopened on Thursday January 2 after holidays but closed again over the weekend. In two sale days 195,639 pounds sold for 35,875.03 dollars averaging 18.03. High end lots reached 40 41 and one pile 42 dollars. Friday sale averaged 21.02 on 28 635 pounds. Since year start 1 178 609 pounds sold at 17.34 average totaling 204 479.82 dollars.

Wiseman Named Clerk of Batavia Village Board of Education

New Regulation on Prepaid Sales Tax Cards Issued
The State Tax Commission issues a new law effective January 1, 1936 governing prepaid sales tax cards. Cards will be printed and distributed at cost, with the state treasurer allowed to add printing costs to the face value. Cards are taxed at 3 percent.
