Jones Pleads Guilty in Kennedy Robbery Case

Howard Jones admitted to taking part with two companions in the Laurel March 17 1912 robbery of Dr Philip Kennedy and his wife. Martin Platt turned state evidence and Ernest Bennett remains at large as authorities pursue him. Jones received a five year term in the Ohio penitentiary for the crime.

Explosion at Batavia billiard parlors injures manager

Last Friday afternoon William Dowdney the new Batavia billiard parlor manager suffered facial burns when an accidental explosion blew off the stove top and gas flame struck his eyes and forehead. He was treated by a physician and returned to work, warned to avoid looking into the stove when gas is present. Oysters served at K Hoerner's restaurant opposite Traction depots Batavia continue in bulk.

Results from Clermont County Experiment Farms show fertilization boosts corn yields on upland yellow clay. Trials cover acid phosphate, potash, complete fertilizer, and manure with lime, yielding gains from 4.24 to 18.87 bushels per acre and profits per acre, supporting soil restoration and farm economics. Dedication Planned for New Masonic Temple in Bata Via

The Bata Via Masonic temple is complete and set for dedication on January 15 at 2 p.m. State grand officers will lead with W. B. Melish and Rev. D. Lee Aultman. A banquet follows on the first floor from 5:80 to 7:80, with Master Mason’s work at 8 o'clock by Yateman lodge of Cincinnati.

Bachelor Girls Meet In Batavia New Year Eve Club

In Batavia a Bachelor Girls club meets at member homes on New Year Eve to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one. The group includes ladies eligible after 30 and men after 86. At the last gathering Miss Eva Hulick hosted initiations and a pleasant evening. Some members are occasionally abandoned by partners seeking companionship elsewhere. New Superintendent Appointed for County Infirmary

Louis Craver, Democratic candidate for clerk of courts, was named county infirmary superintendent receiving two votes while George Randall gained one. Tribute to Col. Greene a life of faith and service

Charles Loren Greeno born May 29 1889 in Troy Pennsylvania died December 31 1912 in St Petersburg Florida. Amasa and Sarah Greeno's son Loren Greene served in the 7th Pennsylvania cavalry and rose to Brevet Colonel. He taught school studied for college but chose ministry and remained a devout Methodist in Milford Ohio and later a leader in the community. He married Lucy Weidman in 1865 and left ten children and a wide circle of family and friends. His faith guided his business integrity and public service including roles with the Milford Building and Loan Company the school board and Christ Hospital board of trustees. He kept the Sermon on the Mount in view and inspired both soldiers and neighbors with Christian discipline and charity.
