Pierce township trustees announced a new fire call system using Swift 44300 for fast dispatch to Pierce Williamsville BMOP or New Richmond. Callers must report property numbers to speed location and ensure prompt service. contract signed with BMOP for eastern Pierce township protection in 1959.
A December 19 automobile crash on US 52 near Ripley injured four Clermont County residents. William E. Boehm, 21, of Chile, lost control and struck Robert Truitt’s parked Cincinnati auto. Injured were Roehm with a fractured neck, Fred Masters 20 Felicity with head and lip cuts, John Fletcher 22 Pt. Pleasant with a right leg injury and forehead cut, Howard Beech 19 Rt. 3 Bethel with internal and left leg injuries.
Newtonsville reports Wayne Township Life Squad made two emergency runs to Ourge of Mercy Hospital. Mary Maxfield of Edenton suffered second and third degree burns from a glass coffee maker. Perry Brock, 18 months, of Batavia, swallowed gasoline and was moved to Children's Hospital. Pvt. Linda G Hodges completes eight week course at Fort Benjamin Harrison after joining WAC in June 1958.
Fire protection levies will be set in Pierce with an $1,800 payment to BMOP for services. An organizational meeting for 1959 will be held January 7 by the trustees.
