Soldier Writes Home From France About Bordeaux Service
Mrs Ed L Hawkins of New Richmond received a letter from Lieut Russell L Bogart of the Engineers A T S France. He is in charge of repairing tugs in Bordeaux harbor and oversees incoming and outgoing vessels. He notes the men are eager to return home and after six months in France will get ten days leave to visit Rome Italy. A fellow worker jokes about avoiding the Statue of Liberty after seeing it in the face. He arrived in Bordeaux on October 11. The rest of the letter is personal.

Government Buys Wheat Under New Price Bill

Charles A Mansfield a former Batavia boy died at his home in Williston North Dakota on February 12 from a brain hemorrhage He was born in Amelia in 1859 lived in Batavia until 1898 then moved to Chicago later residing in Williston He is survived by his widow Mrs Kate Dustin Mansfield and two sons Funeral services were held Friday with interment in Williston cemetery His widow and sister Mrs Heddrich will travel to Ohio by March 1 expressing sympathy from friends

Mrs Lou White Dies After Hospital Operation
Mrs. Lou White of New Richmond died Sunday at 5 p m after an operation at Christ's Hospital Cincinnati for typhoid fever. She was 47, leave a husband two daughters and a son, sister of Mrs Frank Davis. Funeral from the residence today at 2 30. Also note John Haney bought the 80 acre Allen Glancy farm on the Davis pike west of town planning tobacco and corn plots with a stone quarry and locust trees on the land.
