The Batavia 8th grade boys beat Williamsburg 22 to 7 at Williamsburg court. Batavia high school boys won 27 to 11 with a strong passing attack and tight defense. Batavia high school girls lost 20 to 6 without star forward Alice Speidel but held Williamsburg to 7 second half points. The first half was 18 to 6 Williamsburg, and the local team showed notable improvement.
On February 18 relatives and friends gathered at T. W. Moorehead's Williamsburg home to honor Mr M on his 80th birthday. Ferns and flowers adorned the house as a three course dinner was served by candlelight. A large birthday cake with eighty candles was made by Mrs. Bert Huntington of Amelia and decorated by Doris Moorehead of Portsmouth. Granddaughter Averill Sentman of Dayton served. Many friends called to offer congratulations and cards arrived from distant well wishers. May he live to enjoy many more such occasions.
Noralean of Summit 885085 a Jersey cow owned by Camden Terrace Farm Milford Ohio completed an official 866 day test producing 596.78 lbs fat and 11 200 lbs of milk. Milk averaged 6 889 butterfat for the test and the cow qualifies for the Register of Merit of the American Jersey Cattle Club This is the second time this product or has qualified for this honor.
The Bata via Business Men's Club hosted a record-breaking banquet for their wives in the school auditorium. The dinner was served in courses with a ceremonial car nation for each guest, and music from the Batavia orchestra and Sardinia School Orchestra accompanied the event. Notable attendees included Mrs. McCulloch, Attorney Allen Roudebush of Cincinnati, and Paul Smith arranged a picture show at the opera house afterward.
The Clover Progressive Farm Women's Club met at Blanche Franks' home on Wednesday afternoon February 18. The program included songs, Lincoln and Washington sayings, and papers on Personal Manners, The Home, Schools, and Neighborhood and Community. The next meeting is planned for March 18 at Jessie Jordan's home with families invited.
Lexington Ky Feb 20 More than six million dollars will be distributed to Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association owners of higher grade 1922 crop purchased by R J Reynolds Tobacco Company The checks will be issued early in March and each grower will receive a full sale report from President Stone Also mentions P M Rapps Batavia and N B Hoes Williamsburg for Ford inquiries.
Independent Farmers Institute to be held in Marathon over Friday and Saturday February 27 and 28 1925. Program includes sermons welcome address by J M Hutchinson talks on education farm economy fruit care small fruit crops and animal husbandry with music by the community orchestra and a lunch break featuring the community band.
Moore, a barber in the Clermont Hotel building, was arrested by Sheriff Fred Croswell and Deputy Carl Dawson on Saturday evening for possession of liquor. Authorities found a half pint under his pillow as he lay on a back room couch. He was fined 500 dollars plus costs by Mayor Larkin and sentenced to Dayton workhouse until paid, potentially about 900 days if time served.

Frank Buckel of Batavia Ohio sues in Hamilton county Common Pleas Court through attorney Paul V Connelly demanding 5600 dollars from Underwriters Salvage Corps. Buckel alleges injuries to his head back and eyesight after a salvage corps auto truck struck his car at Eighth and Elm streets Cincinnati on September 27 1928.
A Batavia mass meeting is set for Monday night March 2 at the town hall to discuss urgent repairs and changes required for the water plant under state orders. Current water is undrinkable due to strong chlorine and sediment remaining in vessels, risking long term health effects.

Sheriff Fred Croswell captured a stolen 1925 Ford Coup bearing Ohio plate 362145 at Ten Mile Monday afternoon. Thieves abandoned the car taking the front wheel one rear wheel radiator and other parts. the remaining vehicle is held at Citizen's garage awaiting owner identification.
Teachers who have not sent their College and Normal credits to the County Superintendent must forward them to the Department of Education by March 2. Failure to submit on time may delay future certificates.
