Smorgasbord Planned by Williamsburg Celestine Chapter

The Williamsburg Celestine Chapter will host a Saturday smorgasbord on February 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 136 North Third Street. Adults pay 3 dollars and 50 cents, children eight and under 1 dollar and 50 cents.

Water and sewer rates may rise in Clermont County

Clermont County may raise water and sewer rates in April as Sanitary Engineer Donald Beckers cites a likely increase of 10 cents per thousand gallons. High interest on $4 million in certificates of indebtedness is blamed, while about $76 million in water improvements are needed to cover maintenance and renovate aging lines.

Pringle Named New Williamsburg Public Affairs Administrator

Katie Hank Earl Pringle chosen by the village to serve as administrator after two board resignations and Ohio law requires appointment in such cases. Pringle, a Ford Motor employee from Fifth Street, Williamsburg, may serve brief or longer term as a permanent replacement. Garry Ingle cited his knowledge and mechanical ability for the role. Continued discussion on sewer system leaks and a possible rate increase to fund repairs.

Clermont County Selective Service board named

Five member Clermont County Selective Service board appointed from eight interviewed last summer. Members are Constance Chaney Harry Donaworth Richard Strecker and two others. Training begins April through July with meetings likely in a motel conference room. Feb 28 is deadline for men 18 plus to peacetime register at local post offices.

Investigation continues into Amelia baby's death

A coroner's inquiry probes the suffocation death of six month old Tasha Nichole Terry in Amelia. The infant was found unresponsive in her home on Mon pork Way by her father and died at Clermont Mercy Hospital. Milford man menaces food stamp worker

A Milford man, Jimmy L. Bowers, 850 Garfield Park, Lot 50, was charged with menacing after allegedly threatening a food stamp office employee, Gay Murphy, when told that extra verification was needed for stamps. Clermont County Sheriff's deputies responded. the charge is a fourth degree misdemeanor carrying up to a $2 fine and jail time.
