County land purchase irks Batavia trustees

Batavia Township trustees dispute recent county land buys at Bauer Road and near Herold Road totaling 31 and 10 acres for 124000 and 60000 dollars. Critics say the Melrose site violates zoning for a medical social services building and fears rising taxes and devaluation of nearby homes. Supporters claim the Melrose parcel fits hospital access needs and utilities, with future county use uncertain but potentially beneficial. The trustees planned a Tuesday meeting to discuss the issue.
