Funeral services for Charles Dinty Moore, victim of a hit and run, are set for 2 p.m. today at Kennedy Funeral Home in Bethel. Authorities believe a 1935 or 1936 model car caused the accident leading to Moore’s crushed chest death.
Bryce Hendrixson and his parents head to Florida this week as Clermont County fans anticipate major events at Cincinnati Gardens. Local promoters plan a new facility near Batavia with backing from Frank Selke and Louis Richter, signaling growing national attention for regional sports.
The Williamsburg Community Institute begins March 2 3 at the school auditorium Williamsburg with afternoon and evening sessions. The program includes speeches movies music group discussions and exhibits forthcoming from organizers.
The Amelia Methodist Church starts Revival Services next Sunday evening February 27 at 5 30. Rev. David Williams leads the gatherings and Rev. E R Rector from Milford Methodist Church delivers the sermons. Special music will feature each evening and all are welcome.
Dr. Joseph Clemons, 81, of Mt. Crab, who spent 53 years serving the area, died Tuesday at Christ Hospital from complications after a hip injury. A Starling Medical College graduate, he began practice at New Hope and delivered 3500 babies. Burial will be at Georgetown.
Funeral services were held for Joe Brock at Amelia Baptist Church following his death at age 71 in Amelia. Brock served 22 years on the Clermont County Republican Central Committee and was active in local and national politics. He belonged to IOOF Lodge and the Amelia Baptist Church. lodge services occurred in Mt. Washington. His widow Kathryn Pilot Brock survives.
Two Batavia youth will attend the Eighth Annual Short Course in Photography at Kent State University from March 22 to 25. Thomas Fortney, past attendee, will represent The Courier and John Friend Jr. will represent The Messenger of Mariemont. The event limits participants to 300 press photographers and editors and includes a panel on editor photographer relations led by Prof. James A. Fosdick. A health notice reports spinal meningitis in Clermont County with a quarantine around the New Richmond family’s home.
The Clermont County community moves toward a tax supported public library after a 5 to 1 vote. A Library Board forms, meets January 20, discusses funding, and hears guidance from Walter Brahm and Carl Vite. Budget planning for 1950 begins as plans consider self creation over contracting with Cincinnati.
Edna Hamilton of Cincinnati born in Clermont County helped launch Poet's Nook on Feb 13 1947. She is a prolific children’s author published in many outlets and serves as president of Cincinnati’s Women’s Press Club. A new county poetry contest runs to July 1. Clermont County coaches also attended a Baseball Coaches School at Hotel Arms featuring McDermott Bateman and Anstaett.
Goshen school student Christine Neva Moore placed first in Clermont County scholarship tests for 47 seniors conducted February 4 and 5. Betty Ann Hager, Bethel Tate, listed sixth. William F. Forney, Williamsburg, seventh. Ralph Gordon Perkins, Bethel Tate, ninth. Eddie Raymond Kassner, Owensville, tenth. Paul H. Davis, Bethel Tate, and Vera Elizabeth Ritter, Owensville, honorable mention. Also, Batavia Armory hosts a Feb. 26 anniversary ball for Company E 147th Infantry with Ches Wahle orchestra. dancing 9 to 1. public invited.
Byron Ross announces county farmers will sign up for the 1949 Agricultural Conservation Program with increased funds and expanded work. Township meetings list dates and locations from February 28 to March 8 for completing conservation plans covering multiple years.

Springlike weather brings fishing fever as Clermont County issues new fishing licenses effective March 1. Adults 18 or older must obtain the license to fish on local streams on land they reside, with landowners and tenants exempt on their own lands. Licenses cost $1.10 and must be worn as a state badge on outer clothing, and may be bought at courts offices and designated stores.
In the final stages Amelia New Richmond draws a bye while the loser faces Batavia Owensville winner Friday. a title game follows Saturday. Batavia beat Williamsburg 44 37 last Saturday.
