IMT ORAB DOCTOR DIES AFTER 53 YEARS OF SERVICE

Dr. Joseph Clemons, 81, of Mt. Crab, who spent 53 years serving the area, died Tuesday at Christ Hospital from complications after a hip injury. A Starling Medical College graduate, he began practice at New Hope and delivered 3500 babies. Burial will be at Georgetown.

Brock Services Held Tuesday

Funeral services were held for Joe Brock at Amelia Baptist Church following his death at age 71 in Amelia. Brock served 22 years on the Clermont County Republican Central Committee and was active in local and national politics. He belonged to IOOF Lodge and the Amelia Baptist Church. lodge services occurred in Mt. Washington. His widow Kathryn Pilot Brock survives.

Two Batavia Shutter-bugs Attend Photography Short Course

Two Batavia youth will attend the Eighth Annual Short Course in Photography at Kent State University from March 22 to 25. Thomas Fortney, past attendee, will represent The Courier and John Friend Jr. will represent The Messenger of Mariemont. The event limits participants to 300 press photographers and editors and includes a panel on editor photographer relations led by Prof. James A. Fosdick. A health notice reports spinal meningitis in Clermont County with a quarantine around the New Richmond family’s home.

Poet's Nook Promoter Edna Hamilton Earns County Respect

Edna Hamilton of Cincinnati born in Clermont County helped launch Poet's Nook on Feb 13 1947. She is a prolific children’s author published in many outlets and serves as president of Cincinnati’s Women’s Press Club. A new county poetry contest runs to July 1. New Fishing Licenses Due In Clermont County March

Springlike weather brings fishing fever as Clermont County issues new fishing licenses effective March 1. Adults 18 or older must obtain the license to fish on local streams on land they reside, with landowners and tenants exempt on their own lands. Licenses cost $1.10 and must be worn as a state badge on outer clothing, and may be bought at courts offices and designated stores.
