Clermont County Uses Growth as Key Trend in 1970s

Clermont County stands as a national growth leader with major projects shaping the decade. Tim Hogan cites rapid expansion as 1970s plans become reality including hospital expansion, airport runway work, Appalachian Highway completion, and the Zimmer Nuclear Power Station nearing full completion. The Ford transmission plant and East Gate Mall will alter employment and shopping, while East Fork Reservoir opens to provide boating, fishing, swimming, and camping. Population climbs from 42,282 in 1950 to about 110,000, with 101 new subdivisions planned in the past year. Water projects boost supply, and Oak Tree Country Club negotiations could add a high end golf and recreation complex. The county projects substantial growth, though exact outcomes remain uncertain.
