Amelia Mother Of Son In Service Joins WACS
Mrs. Robert Morgan of Amelia Clermont County becomes believed to be the first mother of a son in the armed services to join the Wacs. She enlisted last week and will depart for basic training at Ft. Oglethorpe Georgia. Her son Billy Morgan serves as a Seabee in Normandy and was a D Day veteran overseas since February 1944. After training she expects to be stationed at Fletcher's Hospital in Cambridge.

Batavia Firemen To Receive Scientific Fire Fighting Instruction
Batavia Fire Dept members will study professional fire fighting under Capt. James J. Hassett of Kent State University. The volunteer unit, now aided by Batavia Township funding, will begin a 20 lesson program with weekly classes and hands on evolutions. Fire Chief George W. Gregg plans to add an assistant chief and possibly a captain as the course progresses toward professional standards.

Marion Adams Killed in Action in Belgium
Word reached last week that Marion C. Adams was killed in action December 30 in Belgium after previously being listed missing. He was 22, son of Mrs. Minnie Adams of Batavia, a Williamsburg High School graduate, who entered the Army in 1942 and went overseas with the 60th Armored Infantry, 9th Division in August 1944. He leaves his mother and brother Roland, who also serves overseas.

Clermont War Price and Rationing Board Resolution of Thanks
The Clermont County War Price and Rationing Board adopted a resolution thanking the Batavia Volunteer Fire Department the State Highway Department and Clermont County Commissioners for help after a February 7 1945 fire that damaged the boards office. Surprise Party Honors Batavia Pastor and Family
Rev. I. E. Jenkins, pastor of the U. B. Church in Batavia, and family were guests of a Valentine Day surprise gathering in the church basement. The Clermont County Grand Jury met for a three day session starting last Monday with Prosecuting Attorney Ray Bradford presenting 15 cases. Two major matters include Frank Kirk of Loveland charged with first degree murder of his stepdaughter and Mrs Ruth Blackburn of Cincinnati accused of stealing 2300 dollars from her aunt and arson to conceal the theft.

Lester Holder, 67, longtime Miamiville School principal, died Sunday four days after a stroke at Christ Hospital.
