Plan to monitor water at CECOS in works
OEPA may begin implementing a new plan by end of March to monitor the first two hazardous waste cells at the CECOS International landfill in Clermont County. District Director Tom Winston says he has relayed commissioners concerns about pollutants seeping from unlined early cells and suggested drilling groundwater sampling wells around them. The leachate lagoon near the old cells also worries officials. Bennett, Gass & Williams are conducting a hydrological study for CEPA, with a final report due end of March to determine monitoring wells’ location, number, and depth.
