Health Board to Study Amelia Village Water System

Owensville Man Injured in Snowy Highway Collision
Owensville resident James Buckner sustained minor injuries when his car skidded on a snowy U. S. 50 east of Milford and struck a tree. He was transported to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital by Monroe ambulance for treatment.

Little Girl Nears Toes Saved After Cincinnati Accident
Walmarene Byrd four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Mendle Byrd Neville was in Children’s Hospital Cincinnati after dropping an ax caused a severe cut on her right foot. Doctors initially feared loss of several toes but the girl remains out of danger today.

Bethel to Install Parking Meters
Bethel Council voted unanimously to install parking meters on village streets to ease congestion and raise revenue. The meters from Michaels Art Bronze Company Covington may be erected this month and are expected to operate like Batavia meters: one cent for 12 minutes and five cents for an hour.

Milford Air Force Colonel Laid To Rest In Dignified Funeral
Lt. Col. Edward J. Agin 37 of Milford died after a stroke at Walter Reed Army Hospital on a Saturday. His burial at Evergreen Cemetery included a four point firing squad and Taps by Wright Patterson airmen. Surviving are his parents wife three children and sister with services at Craver Funeral Home and observances by Milford Masonic lodge.

County and Union Township Residents Discuss Pending Dump Case
Union Township residents met with Dr. W. H. Gaskins head of Clermont County Board of Health to discuss action on the four month old fight over Claude Jackson’s dump near Glen Este. Colds and flu close three Clermont County schools
Bethel joined Clermont County districts forced to close temporarily due to colds and influenza. Officials reported 366 of 937 pupils absent on Tuesday, with more than 900 missing across the county. Batavia school closed for the rest of the week and St. Andrew parochial in Milford recessed until Monday.

Partin Pleads Guilty To Federal Offense
Eugene Pee Wee Partin 21 of Batavia pleaded guilty to interstate transportation of stolen automobiles in Cincinnati. Daniel Hoskins 24 of Coxton Ky and Raymond Pennington 24 of Cincinnati also pled guilty. All three were ordered held on $2,000 bond after Cincinnati detectives arrested them.

Batavia Board Eyes New School Site For Growth
Batavia School Board plans for expansion as enrollment grows. At a Tuesday meeting about 60 patrons weighed enlarging the current building versus buying a new site possibly outside the village to build a future high school. The vote favored purchasing a new site with actions for immediate extra classrooms already needed.

The Amelia Village Council voted to hire the BMOP volunteer fire company for village protection with services based in Hamlet. Pierce township trustees also Vertrag with the 36 member unit. The plan aims to save costs while meeting state fire protection codes. A new fire house is planned with construction set to begin in spring for BMOP use.
