Owensville Dominates Batavia In varsity rout

Owensville routed Batavia 55 to 21 after an eight game Friday, with Batavia's varsity struggling throughout the contest. Batavia earlier beat Felicity reserves in OT 41 to 39 while Batavia's main team defeated Felicity 39 to 22. Upcoming county tourney in Williamsburg features Batavia vs Williamsburg and Owensville vs New Richmond, leading to a Monday March 2 final.

Campaign To Get Books Is Now Started

The Victory Book Campaign began with donations from US citizens for service members. In Ohio Paul A T Noon directs state efforts with librarians, officials, and organizations collecting books. Campaign runs through February toward a ten million volume goal nationwide with four local Ohio projects already organized.

Founders Day Observed At Mt Carmel School

Mt. Carmel School marks Founders Day as Mt. Carmel Glen Este PTA hosts a program on February 20 with a patriotic performance by third and fourth graders. Several tracks of the City of Miami service on the Illinois Central crack streamliner left the rails near Columbus in Gd. slicing ties and spikes for about a half mile before crossing a 150 foot trestle, then safely remounting the rails.

Truck plates go on sale March 1st in county seats

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles announces deputy registrars in each county seat will issue truck farm truck and trailer plates over the counter to speed tag receipt. All plates go on sale March 1 and may be used from that date to avoid delays.

David Remley Safe at Pearl Harbor after Pacific duty

A letter received February 13 reports David Remley resting at Pearl Harbor after a long Pacific mission. The submarine torpedo man had been stationed at Pearl Harbor since December and was aboard during the attack. He offered no details on Hawaii events but said he was well and resting after over two months at sea.

Southern Ohio Workers Assured of Back Pay

Five hundred eighty nine southern Ohio workers were assured a total of 30 705 99 in back pay after settlements approved in January by the Wage and Hour Division of the U S Department of Labor. Lucille D Newton acting Supervising Inspector said the restitution equals wages owed since the Fair Labor Standards Act began in October 1938. In Cleveland regional headquarters it was announced that 4091 Ohio and Michigan workers received 118 587 73 in restitution during the month.
