Katharine Bauer born in Considers Bavaria Germany. She came to the United States at 18 settling in Higginsport Ohio. She married Adam Bauer February 20 1878 and had eleven children. The family moved to Batavia in 1885 where she joined the German U B church and remained a faithful member. She died February 10 1916 at age 63 3 16 after a fall and illness. She leaves husband 11 children 18 grandchildren and several siblings and relatives. May her family find comfort and hope in reunion in the city of God.

Coldest Winter Since 1910 Draws Seed Boom
E R Boggs formerly of this place now in Rocky Ford Cal reports in a letter that this winter is the coldest since 1910 with many days at zero. He notes heavy mountain snow promising ample ditch water for next season and that the area is becoming a major seed raising center with Ferry and Rice contracting to raise 4000 acres beans 86000 acres cucumbers and 2000 acres cantaloupes for seed. He adds Mr B and family are pleased with their western home.

In Memoriam of Aunt Rachel Turner Pioneer Mother
The aged mother Rachel Turner died January 2 1916 after a long life born January 14 1827 to Aaron and Elizabeth Hutchinson pioneers. She married Sam Ayper in 1867 and had five children four living. A longtime church member she was the oldest at Greenberry Chapel and endured nearly total blindness for about ninety years.

Couple Die Together Missing Since Christmas
The bodies of Jessie Dunlap aged 18 and George Humphreys aged 86 were found last week buried under fodder near Delaware in Adams County.
