Commissioner Zenas Anstaett urged the state to repair Rt. 74 near Batavia amid severe traffic damage. He cited deep surface cracks and detours harming Taylor Road and delaying school buses, urging fast reopening and repairs with public support.

The Ohio Department of Highways set a 25 percent reduction in maximum vehicle weight and axle loads on five Clermont County state highways to protect roads from freeze thaw damage. Effective Feb. 10, routes affected include State Routes 48 132 138 222 and 774 with segments in Loveland Batavia Felicity Bethel and surrounding lines.
Milford county officials met at the Homestead Inn to finish planning the MGS Water System. Attendees included commissioners Zenas Anstaett Charles Clark and Don Ison Prosecutor Ralph Hill County Engineer Carl Rush Project Engineer Jack Fuller and investment firm representatives. They aim to advertise bids within two weeks to save money by winter contracting and confirm service to Owensville and Goshen. Fuller's revised cost estimate due to added roads remains the final hurdle for Clermontt's second large water project.
Alfred P. Hardin of Morse Sewing Centers donated a new $199 portable sewing machine for a door prize at the Ohio Valley Theatre Guild benefit night for retarded children. The prize will be on display at Blocher's Pharmacy and awarded at the Feb 26 school event in Batavia.
Timothy Monk two year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles Monk of Shiloh Road near Goshen was treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Mariemont for an eleven stitch wound after a jar thrown by the father during a quarrel struck the child Deputy Frank Grimes reported.
