Drawings for the Clermont County boys basketball tournament were completed by superintendents in Batavia. Games run Feb 21 to 26 at Williamsburg gym with matchups listed for each date and time. The girls tournament starts this week in Batavia with several quarterfinal and semifinal games leading to a Feb 26 final at Amelia.

Drama festival set at Batavia church Feb 15

The Clermont County Drama Festival will be held at Batavia United Brethren Church Thursday Feb 15 at 8 PM. Miss Vivian Schneider County Chairman announced the event sponsored by the County Christian Youth Council. A silver offering will be taken after the dramas.

Mt. Carmel-Glen Este defeated Clermont County Class B foe in overtime 18-16 to claim the championship after a 16-16 deadlock. Tournament scores list Mt. Carmel-Glen Este with 30, Bethel 10, Milford 16, and other results. Referee H. Herberg from Batavia presided over the contested games.

The $26,272,000 supplemental indenture by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company secures principal and interest on Refunding and General Mortgage Bonds series A to F with Central Hanover Bank & Trust Company of New York and Frank Wolfe as trustee. Clermont County Farm Bureau Coop Holds Annual Meeting

The Clermont County Farm Bureau Cooperative Association met on February 8 1940 at United Brethren Church Hall Batavia with about 300 farmers attending. Reports by Caldwell Stoddard and Oldman highlighted progress while three directors Garney Roush Earl Groppenbacher and Harry Nott were elected for three year terms. The president R Caldwell called the meeting one of the largest and finest to date and noted the cooperative's purpose with Ohio Farm Bureau connections.

Funeral Services for R. F. Erdman Held in New Richmond

Funeral services for R. F. Erdman 63 were held Sunday at 2 PM from the T. P. White Sons Home with the New Richmond Masonic Order in charge. Erdman treasurer of Clermont County from 1931 to 1935 died Thursday at 4 AM after a paralytic stroke. He leaves a widow Myrle Hoardman Nicholsville a son Richert a daughter Pauline and another son in Cincinnati.

High Class Charity Basketball Sets Owensville Friday

Tax collection to open on February 23

The semi annual personal and classified tax collection begins Friday February 23 in the county treasurer office. Forms have been mailed, with an expected total of about 50000 dollars 30000 in intangibles and 20000 in personal tax. The deadline is March 30 and the office will be closed February 22 for Washingtons birthday. State Game Protector Distributes 264 Rabbits in Clermont County

Edgar Anstaett, state game protector, announced last week the disposition of 264 Missouri rabbits across 22 parts of Clermont county. Rabbits were distributed in groups of eight to six pairs and released at least three miles from the nearest orchard.

Enumerators Named for Clermont County Business Census

J. W. Smith of Williamsburg and W. A. Stratton near Marathon on Route 50 are the initial Clermont County census workers. Appointed by Wray Bevins, they began the business census January 8 and expect completion by March 30 before the Farm and Population Census begins with more staff. Smith covers Monroe Tate Goshen Jackson Wayne Williamsburg townships. Stratton handles seven other townships outside corporations. About 15 business census forms exist plus 147 manufacturing industry forms. Questions cover plant description organization location workers wages materials power and annual production.

Clermont County Budget Slashes Expenditures to Match Income

County officials cut county expenses to align with lower revenues in 1939, reducing total county function outlays by 19 percent from 1938. Real estate and personal taxes fell, while inheritances and cigarette dealers rose. health and new equipment saw increases.
