Amanda Nash Violett remembered as devoted Olive Branch matriarch
Alice Hunt records the death of Amanda Nash Violett born April 16 1842 near Amelia Ohio widow of Wm Fuller and Richard Violett. Survived by four children two daughters and many grandchildren, she lived on farms near Olive Branch then in town with daughters Allie and Blanche. Known for hospitality and church service she died at her daughter’s home after a fire and is laid to rest beside family members near the Olive Branch church.

Double Funeral For Monterey Couple
J. J. Turner and his wife Mary Turner of Monterey died within days of each other from pneumonia. A double funeral was held at Monterey Presbyterian Church with burial in Owensville Cemetery. This marks a trend of local doubles, noting previous couples John Rapp and wife and James Hunt and wife.

Merchants in Trouble in Loveland Liquor Sweep
Fred Adams of Bata via was arrested by Loveland liquor court officers after a search found empty lemon extract bottles and two filled ones. He pleaded not guilty then guilty to possessing liquor, fined 300 dollars and costs. Farl Goodwin of Bethel and his clerk Frank Scott faced liquor sales charges with Jamaica ginger seizures. proceedings postponed to February 18. Will Richards of Bethel, after lemon extract purchase, awaits a February 28 hearing. Also, the Woman's Missionary Society of the Presbyterian church invites all to a regular meeting at the Manse on Friday February 1 at 2 p.m.
