Pioneer Preacher James McMath of Moscow Passes
James McMath, one of Clermont county’s oldest citizens, born near Moscow in 1821, lived a long Christian life as a local preacher and steward. He married twice and fathered ten children, with four surviving. he joined the Neville MFE and Moscow churches in early life and spent decades serving in various church roles. He died January 16 1907 at his daughter’s home amid flood conditions, with limited funeral services.

Louis A Pattison brother of the late Governor John M Pattison died Monday morning at his Owensville home aged 72. A Clermont native he worked in merchandizing before retiring to Florida then Ohio. He leaves a widow and brother James A Pattison of Hagerstown Indiana. Funeral Thursday at 2 pm at his residence. Interment Owensville Cemetery.

Tragedy on B. and O. Railroad Claims Two Men
Two railroad workers died near Loveland last Wednesday on the B. and O. line. Harry Switzer of Hills Station, 23, and Denton Drazila of Midland, 50, were struck by an oncoming express while stepping onto a parallel track to avoid a freight. The cow catcher tossed their bodies onto a nearby turnpike.
Robinson Purchases Maguire Store in Perintown
W. O. Robinson, longtime school teacher and later a bookkeeper in Cincinnati, has bought the stock and good will of the Maguire general store in Perintown and will operate it. He is popular with Clermont and Batavia residents, including former students in Perintown, and friends wish him success.

Trestle Repairs Underway On C. G. & P. Railway
More than fifty workers repair the trestle over the Miami on the C. G. & P. line with traffic expected to resume within ten days. A landslide on the N. & W. near McDermott covered 200 yards of track to ten feet but has been cleared and transfer not needed. Henry Kautz of Georgetown takes charge of the C. & C. station at Hillsboro.

Memorial for Colonel Jim of 59th Regiment Drum Corps
James A. Morgan of Georgetown and member of the 59th Regiment drum corps died in Cincinnati hospital at about 65. Captured at Chickamauga after six months in Andersonville, he was known as Colonel Jim and well liked by officers and men. His wife had died years earlier. his remains were buried at Georgetown.
