The Cleveland chief of police sent editor William A. Collins a hunting dog that proved dangerous. The dog escaped, attacked the household, and caused a bitter dispute with Collins over ownership, punishment, and a public relocation to Cleveland, amid warnings from Collins’ family and Mr Shields.
The old Mooreville mill, destroyed by fire and rebuilt after flood, has again changed hands to the Moore family. J H Orebaugh sold to M C Moore H L Moore and Charles Blanchard, forming the Phenix Milling Company.
In Mt. Oreb last week thirty-five masked men searched the town to seize a negro named Jackson who knew too much but he was not found. Adam Burkes has sued about fifty white caps in Highland county common pleas court, with Jackson as a witness against them.
A court clerk named Shaw arranged a small, informal gathering to honor several individuals who have served their country. The event, described as a pleasant surprise, was organized for a number of veterans connected with the court.
Obituary notes for Herman T. Rust of Boston M E Sunday school who died of pneumonia January 19 1888 in Lebanon Ohio at age twenty five with resolutions of mourning and sympathy. Also notes the deaths of Frank Anton Reinhardt Lizzie Simmons Mrs Susan Alcoke and Uncle Tom Wilson with brief funeral details and church affiliations.
The Aurora Springs Democrat notes Willis Stall, formerly of New Boston, is collecting Miller County historical data for Goodspeed & Co. His work has already yielded valuable facts from longtime settlers and may preserve them for posterity. The paper welcomes him to Aurora Springs and urges citizens to assist.
A vintage advertisement touts Hall's Catarrh Cure with a $100 reward for incurable catarrh. It lists endorsements from Wat & Truax and Walding Kinnan Marvin, Toledo wholesalers, and B H Van Haren, Toledo National Bank cashier, asserting Cheney’s honor and cure’s blood and mucus focus. Miss Emma Wiles of Newtonsville attempted suicide with laudanum during a spell of temporary insanity while staying with the Beltz family. A physician revived her after she appeared dead, and she regained consciousness. She is now resting, with a close watch to prevent a second attempt.
The Ohio State Forestry Bureau will hold its annual meeting in Columbus on Thursday next. Hon. Leo Weltz of Wilmington serves as president and Prof. Adolph Leue of Cincinnati as secretary, with business of importance to be disposed.

Mrs J M Clasgens wife of J M Clasgens proprietor of Buckeye Knitting Factory New Richmond died at noon Sunday after a short illness. An Irish native and longtime New Richmond resident she leaves a large family the eldest child 17. A devout Catholic she will be buried today at St Peters church.
