Three Men Fined for Disturbance in Mt Holly Cafe

Three men caused a disturbance at Jack's Cafe in Mt Holly on a Saturday night. They appeared before Mayor A Co Munden in Batavia on Wednesday, each fined 100 dollars and ordered to pay 44 dollars for damage after breaking beer bottle tops. One man was injured. Also before the mayor were Eugene Hearon fined 25 dollars and costs for intoxication and disorderly conduct, and Marion Roberts fined 100 dollars with 75 suspended for possessing a car under the influence.

Patrolman Seeks Applicants for State Police Training

Patrolman Mark Trees of the State Highway Patrol will be at the State Highway Garage in Batavia February 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. to receive applications from young men interested in joining the patrol. Veterans are eligible for benefits during the 12 weeks of required training.

The county names four additional deputy wardens as part of a broader dog control enforcement effort. Recipients include Ohio Township Washington Township and Ezta Flora in Franklin. several deputy wardens had been named previously.

Glass thrown at companion in Cincinnati cafe strikes man

Cincinnati police seek a Hill woman who hurled a glass at a companion in the Normandy Cafe Saturday evening. The glass hit Adren Mil on the forehead, needing several stitches at Bethesda Hospital. Mil did not know the woman and was with his own party. Miller said he was standing when struck.

Hospital Aid Bill Approved and Georgetown Meet Set

Federal approval of a 40 million dollar hospital aid program will spur a March 18 meeting at the Georgetown Court House with Stewart Milliken to discuss shared efforts among Clermont Brown and Adams counties. Local groups push funding with a one third state match and a hoped hospital facility, while Clermont leads rural health discussions in Columbus and statewide.

Chester R. Shook former judge and Lincoln authority will be principal speaker at Clermont County Republican Women’s Club February meeting at Withamsville school. He recently visited the Lincoln Memorial in Illinois and will discuss Abraham Lincoln President. The Mother Singers of Withamsville PTA will join the program along with a piano solo by Rhoda Ankermiller.

Native of India to Speak at Local Churches

Mr. Sagar will be the guest missionary speaker at Olive Branch and Summerside Methodist Churches during Sunday worship. He then speaks at Clermont County Methodist Men's Brotherhood Meeting Sunday evening at 5:30 at Summerside Methodist Church. He formerly served as Principal of the Methodist Mission School at Muttra.

Rural Clubs Plan Camp Funding and Growth

County Extension Agents report a push to create camping facilities for 4-H and rural clubs. Funds totaling about 16000 dollars are sought over several years to develop facilities in multiple counties. Agents held four months of meetings and on January 31 signed the Articles of Incorporation for the project.

Easter Seal Sale Opens Feb 28 for Crippled Children

The 15th annual Easter Seal drive for crippled children begins February 28 in Clermont County and runs through Easter Sunday March 298. Ohio Society for Crippled Children and 72 county societies sponsor the campaign led nationally by the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults. Clermont County Chapter formed December 1947 and funds support convalescent care medical treatment equipment eyeglasses hearing aids scholarships and vocational training for cerebral palsied children.

Electric rail era in Clermont County's early years

The Clermont County electric era began circa 1900 with the C. G. & P. expanding gauge and right of way, building routes from Georgetown to West Union and linking Cincinnati to New Rich mond's rail outlet. Four electric lines once operated, including the Swing Line and Kroger Line, but floods, high costs, and rising auto transport led to their abandonment. Simultaneously, Felicity saw home owned telephone exchanges grow before outside competition ended their viability.
