Robbers raided Coyle Implement Company and Conrad Brown in West Batavia last Wednesday night. Brown’s restaurant lost about $20 in change through a rear window. the other business suffered only a few pennies missing. A clue may lead to the thieves.

Cincinnati man injured by unguarded abattoir machine
Ed Dixson of Cincinnati, employed at the Abbatoir, was seriously hurt last Friday afternoon when his coat sleeve was drawn into a large machine. His arm was badly cut and torn from the socket, but doctors dressed the wounds at the hospital and he is recovering. The arm is expected to be saved, and it is noted the machinery should have been guarded by screens.

Megrue Livery Barn Sold in Batavia to Willies
Willies purchased the Megrue livery barn in Batavia last Thursday for storage and stabling in connection with the adjacent garage. Mr. Megrue and his wife plan to return to Goshen. Henry Ray bought the E. Bush home on Thursday, and R. bought the Buerkle property on Main Street occupied by H. F. Buerkle and wife.

Reverend Turner of Batavia Dies After Brief Illness
Rev Turner of the Second M E Church Batavia died at home Thursday after a brief illness from Brights disease and pneumonia. Funeral services were held Saturday morning and the remains were taken to Dayton for burial. He was popular with his congregation. A widow and one other survivor remain. Alex Hicks of Madisonville spent Sunday with Louis Hicks who is quite poorly.

Fire destroys Perkins homestead near Andrew Hauck
The Perkins home built in 1858 was destroyed by a mid morning fire sparked along the kitchen flue. Andrew Hauck, injured by a kicked horse while trying to save belongings, faced medical care after being helped to Clark Brothers’ residence. Laura Hauck’s $50 liberty bond was lost. $1000 insurance covered the building. Citizens offered aid.

Memorial Service for Batavia War Dead Planned
The Frank W. Weaver Post No 287 American Legion will conduct a memorial service at Batavia Town Hall on Sunday February 22 at 2 p m in memory of Batavia township soldiers who died in World War. A flag and the Stars and Stripes will be dedicated, and a certificate of honor prepared with the French Government for families of Mont County dead. The Batavia orchestra will provide music and a program will be announced next week. Special invitations go to families of the deceased, county Legion posts, and honored veterans.

The Sunshine Club No 67 met at Mrs Anna Walker's home on February 5 1920 with all but one member present due to illness. New president Mrs Gertrude Runyan opened the session and Mrs Curry led a program including songs readings and discussions on Washington and Lincoln.
