Union Two Sets Rules For Future Snow Emergency

Union Township Trustees report 279 tons of sand and 200 bags of calcium chloride were used to clear 189 roads during the snow emergency from Jan 22 to Feb 3. Crews logged 549 man hours with three trucks and two plows, as Trustees Clepper Durbin and Heckter urged residents to keep vehicles off roads or face towing at owners' expense.

West Clermont to Vote on 615000 Bond for Classrooms

The West Clermont Board of Education calls a special election for March 22 to approve a 615000 bond for new classrooms. The millage is 71 cents per 1000 and state aid could raise total funds to 2447085 for construction. An additional half mill levy would repay the state after the 1983 expiry. The measure centers on school growth and facilities.

Snow costs rise for Clermont County highway division

Russell Simmons reports that the February 13 snow cost the State Highway Department in Clermont County eleven thousand one hundred seventy seven dollars. Labor for 1244 man hours was twenty five hundred seven, equipment cost was eighteen ninety two, salt used was four thousand nine hundred forty three, calcium chloride sixteen tons cost six hundred fifty six, ice grit fifty one tons cost seventy, gasoline seventeen hundred forty gallons cost three hundred six, and independent equipment rental seven hundred two. Simmons praises crews for their emergency work and notes J R Cooke of Division 8 aided on the first night at the Clermont County garage.
