A Clermont veteran bought a $10,000 life policy naming the Amelia High School Athletic Fund as beneficiary. Sgt. Clyde Bradford Braughton Jr., 20, of the 101st Airborne was killed in Vietnam when his pistol discharged after he handed a clip to a companion. He was a senior at Amelia High School in 1966 with strong sports involvement and school loyalty. Burial with full military honors will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. funeral arrangements by Powers Funeral Home.
Approximately 25 members of the Clermont County NFO met at 10:30 at the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Office on West Main Street Batavia to enroll in the federal Feed Grain program. Stanley Shardt said the action aims to raise prices by withholding meat and dairy from the market amid low guaranteed prices for U S wheat and corn compared with France.
Congressman William H. Harsha plans to attend the Republican Lincoln Day dinner in Batavia with Wayne Ward as principal speaker. The event at Batavia American Legion will feature a smorgasbord, a 6:30 social hour, and tickets at four dollars per plate. Clermont County reported local government funds of 182137 in late 1967, up from 171516 a year earlier.
Decision Inc acquires 66 South Riverside Drive Batavia site formerly Super Value Store to serve as its general offices with remodeling underway and occupancy expected April 1. The firm plans future expansion including15000 162 acres at Mt Crab Brown County for production and a possible underground 40000 square foot permanent building at a cost around 650000.
Amelia school sixth graders in a 120 student class start door to door sales of The Clermont Courier to raise funds for their spring trip to Cincinnati 700. They travel by bus to the zoo and return after visiting area attractions. Residents support this yearly fundraiser to help students earn full credit and save for the trip.
Congressman Harsha announced area appointments for West Point Air Force Naval and Merchant Marine academies with multiple alternates. He praised the applicants as exceptional students and noted the difficulty in selecting principals. A Batavia bank need survey followed the brief.
Secretary of State Ted W. Brown administers the oath to Clermont County Board of Elections members in Cincinnati during a traveling office meeting. Incumbent Republican Joseph L. Remley and newly appointed Democrat James Cobb Burger take the oath as their new four year term starts March 1. George Mull holds a 100 year old Brown family Bible.
The 1968 Hearts-Days-For-Business campaign begins in Clermont County led by Roger Backhus of Rogers Pharmacy. He and volunteers will visit business leaders to promote heart disease awareness and solicit support, with a committee listing members from Bethel to Stonelick and Jackson townships.
Adult class registration at Northeast High School set for Monday Feb 12 at 6 30 p m. A minimum ten students must register with a 20 fee for the class to run. Thirty hours of instruction offered Mondays 6 30 to 9 30 p m until April 22 with Dale Jordan and Leslie Withers teaching.
