Mollie H Johnston of Tate township filed a will in June 1890 with three children born after its making. Probate Judge Clarence N Young ruled the will null and void under state law and refused probate. Judge Frank Davis, the attorney, called it a unique case but agreed with the ruling.

Mother of Attorney Dies at 88 in Batavia Cemetery
Mrs. Julia H. Nichols age 88 of 1782 Sutton road Washington died at her home Saturday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday at 10 am, burial in Batavia cemetery. A former Olive Branch resident, she was well remembered by older citizens.

Milton lodge No 99 I C C F in Amelia began February 3 1848 in John F Mellen s shoe shop on Main and Church. The 8 W corner of Main and Clermont Ave housed a new building from August 9 1851 and they moved again in 1910 to their current site. 827 initiated members total 68 now. Connected with it Rebekah lodge No 798 with 81 members, started June 18 1921. Anniversary observed February 8 1928 with pie coffee and social.

Still and liquor raid near Tabasco leads to arrests
Sheriff John B. Rapp and three deputies swept the Tabasco area and detained P. Tingalos on liquor possession after a tip. James Bolash was charged with manufacturing liquor after deputies found a functioning still under a garage with five gallons of liquor and three barrels of mash. A hidden floor hinge led to the discovery, and the men were heard on Saturday before Mayor Ross in Batavia.

The Batavia I O O F lodge entertained 35 Mt Carmel members last Friday night and conferred the first degree on two candidates. The evening featured olden time formalities and a fine lunch.
