A large crowd greeted Rev Lavender and his bride at the Presbyterian church on Monday evening. They arrived Saturday and are staying with the Stark family. Lunch was served in the Sunday school room and the event featured decorations and a pleasant social atmosphere with members from several churches in attendance.
The Daughters of Rebekah of Batavia lodge move Valentine’s Day observance to the 16th due to their regular meeting. A neat program is planned with luncheon afterward. Miss Elizabeth Marsh, candidate for representative to the grand lodge, received the lodge’s full vote and is favored to win district wide.
The seventh annual Miami Township Farmers Institute meets February 14 and 15 at Milford Town Hall with speakers from Ohio Department of Agriculture including W. I. Chamberlain and Bert Smith. A fruit exhibit will be led by B. S. McKay with talks on fruit growing. Traction cars will run from Milford to Blanchester Monterey and nearby points on the evenings of February 14. The program covers mornings and afternoons with talks on dairying fertilization fertilization rotations alfalfa and other farm topics by local experts and guest speakers.
Ohio penitentiary inmates classified as criminally insane were transferred to Columbus State Hospital last week. The move follows Warden Jones's recommendation that Lima’s facility is inadequate for treating the inmates whose confinement spans up to eight decades.
The Ladies Helping Circle of Mt Holly Christian Church held a quarterly dinner at Mr and Mrs Geo Danby near Mt Holly. The gathering featured scripture reading prayer singing and music. One member Miss Bila Chapman had died since the last meeting casting a sad note over the day.
