Known In Batavia Mrs Louise Gillingham Dies
Mrs Louise Gillingham widow of Capt Edwin Perkins died January 28 1920 in San Francisco California and was buried in Union cemetery Batavia. Services were led by Rev Bonham. She and Captain Perkins long lived in Washington DC where he worked in the Treasury 6th Auditor's office. The Perkins homestead stood where Edward Ansteadt’s home now stands. Captain Perkins died about five years ago and Mrs Perkins lived in San Francisco with her daughter Birdie P Lyders who accompanied the remains. Mrs P was 83 years old.

American Legion Basketball Tourney Opens in Clermont County
The American Legion Tournament for town teams in Clermont County began last Wednesday with three games. Amelia beat LaFayette Hall Owensville 24 to 16. Milford defeated Williamsburg 27 to 16 led by White with 10 and Bowles with 8. Batavia Rauscher Bros. edged Mt. Carmel 33 to 32 in overtime as Garner scored a clutch basket. Farrow led Mt. Carmel with 20 and McAfee Moore each 10. The event continues Tuesday through Thursday this week.

In Batavia U B church Men s Bible class a weekly contest to boost membership ended with Reds 51 Blues 43. A late turnout brought the total to 100. Reds captain Oliver Bauer and Blues captain Edgar Ansteadt led the effort with Lt s. Henry Otto of Peerless Creamery is president and Edwin Schultz of Owensville is the Y M C A teacher. The Reds win earns a February 14 banquet in the church basement. Walter Bauer leads the Blues as superintendent.

Auto Crash Near Batavia Causes State Car Damage
Bobb Mallown of Dayton drove toward Amelia last Thursday morning when his car collided with a State Highway vehicle occupied by Supt J D Moesehl Byron Barbera Irwin Bauer and K Hallin near Batavia. The state car ended up in a ditch on its top with damaged fenders windows and a wheel. Barbeau suffered a minor injury while others escaped. MacNown continued after settling damage with the state car owner. He was speeding at the time.

Grand Jury Returns Five True Bills in Cincinnati Case
The grand jury, meeting last Friday, examined 25 witnesses and returned five true bills. Adam Yanger and Jack Wooley of New Richmond were indicted for burglary, and Wooley for housebreaking. Andrew Comose Eimmett Moore and Chas Walker of Cincinnati were indicted for burglarizing M R Huggins store at Bethel on January 19 and removing about $600 of goods. Comose posted a $1000 bond while Moore and Walker were arrested. Much of the goods have been identified and recovered.
