Burley Tobacco Growers Sell 60 Million Pounds to Major Firms
President James O. Stone announced that about 60 million pounds of Burley tobacco were sold by the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association to leading American manufacturers. Liggett & Myers bought 30 million pounds, American Tobacco 5 million, P Lorillard 8.5 million, and other firms including 400 thousand to Penn Tobacco. Deliveries begin immediately with total sales around 15 million dollars.

Grand jury session finds three bills in three cases

Quail Care Amid Snowy Spell Draws Farmer Aid
The quail, a valued farm bird, received prompt attention last week as heavy snow fell. Feed was scattered by many while others shared with chickens near barns. Few bird deaths reported. rabbits fared better by staying in burrows and feeding on bark. The cold spell ended quickly with no major losses.
Judge Patton Takes Office as Probate Judge

Change of Time For N and W Evening Train

Boggs brothers plead not guilty in murder case
John Boggs 24 and Dan Boggs 21 were indicted for first degree murder and assault with intent to kill in the killing of Harry McGill. They appeared in Hillsboro court with counsel and pled not guilty, set for hearings March 2 and 16. They claimed no funds and said they never had previous arrests.
