Attendance Boostes at Clermont County Pomona Grange Meeting

One hundred eighty members answered roll call at 10 a m for the regular quarterly meeting in Owensville School Auditorium on Saturday January 80th More than 200 attended the noon basket dinner Reports from subordinate Granges showed a rise in membership in late 1931 County Farm Bureau Grange Taxation Committee members urged cooperation with local Farm Bureau units to form township joint taxation committees to study expenditures and aid reductions E C Saxon newly elected master presented a program exchange schedule which was accepted A bronze medal was awarded to Clermont County for 1931 and plans were made to improve in 1932 A motion authorized a 5 00 allotment toward subordi nate lecturer expenses for the state Grange Lecturers School at Ohio State University The group also passed a motion commending the Taxation Committee and recommended establishing a Clermont County Children's Home The executive committee was tasked to study holding Pomona meetings at a single location Suggestions were offered to solicit candidates for the fifth degree and report at each meeting Officers installed by C J Nobis included E C Saxton Master Mrs Frank Atchley Lecturer and others The meeting adjourned to reconvene April 16 at Williamsburg.

Taxpayers Rally for Better Government in Clermont County

James W. Walker urges citizens and taxpayers to join a county wide tax and better government league led by P. F. Jamison. Clover Progressive Club Meeting Then Installations

The Clover Progressive club met January 20 at Mrs. Louella Bogart’s home with 11 members and one guest. Officers installed were Mrs. Luella Bogart president Mrs Gladys Hayworth vice Mrs Elizabeth Innis secretary and Mrs Addie Walker treasurer. Next all day meeting set for February 17 at Mrs. Bessie Miller’s.

Supreme Court Judge Appointed to State Bench

Lt Judge Will P. Stephenson of West Union will join the State Supreme Court bench soon, succeeding the late Judge James E. Robinson. Governor White announced the appointment, which holds until the November election. Stephenson will resign from Adams County Probate and Common Pleas Courts when sworn in. He receives congratulations from many friends.

Annual Election of Clermont County Red Cross Held

The Clermont County Chapter of the American Red Cross held its annual election last Saturday. Elected officials include Judge H. L. Nichols as Chairman and Mrs. C. C. Kearns as Vice Chairman. Other officers: Miss Emma Wilke Secretary, John Huntington Treasurer, Mabel H. Massey Executive Secretary, H. L. Nichols Disaster Relief, Mrs. N. Young Home Service, Rush Publicity, Mrs. D. K. McDonald Production, Miss Jeanie Bontiay Executive Committee member, and Frank Davie Legal Advisor with a broad slate of names on the committee.

Ohio Republican State Convention Apportions Delegates

The Ohio Republican State Central Committee adopts a 1 delegate to 1 alternate per 1000 votes rule from the 1930 governor race. Delegates are apportioned by county. Clermont County gets six delegates and six alternates. Candidacy filings due by March 11 1982 at 6 30 p.m with a 100 signature Republican elector petition.
