Madisonville defeated Batavia 20 to 18 at the armory on Saturday. After a 9 to 2 halftime lead for Madisonville, the home team rallied with eleven points in the second half while Batavia managed seven. Cramer Sulli and Larkin starred for Madisonville with standout plays.
Mr and Mrs Charles Slade hosted a Friday evening gathering on Market Street to celebrate their daughter Miss Alice Slade s birthday. Guests arrived as a surprise after supper and enjoyed games ice cream and cake with prizes awarded in a guessing contest. Mr and Mrs George Keen also surprised their daughter Miss Lorena Keen at their Broadway home with a similar party featuring games and merriment.

Congressman Johnson of the tenth district introduces two pension bills. The first raises monthly pensions for veterans with 90 days service and under 70 to 30, 70 to 75 to 35, and above 75 to 40, with automatic increase. The second bill revises widow pensions from the 1890 act, lifting the marriage cutoff to January 1, 1900.
