Family Homeless After Christmas Day Fire

The Wagner family lost their home and all Christmas gifts when a fire started while one adult was filling a power saw with gasoline. Estimated loss is $7000. the house was insured but contents were not. The couple has three children, two girls aged 9 and 6 and a 4 year old boy.

The 20th Courier-Merchants stork event invites Clermont County residents to report the first baby of 1967 by noon on Tuesday Jan 3. Entries must include full parent names and addresses, baby name, sex, birth weight, attending physician, and must be born to residents for at least one month.

Bids Open for Courthouse Annex Remodeling in Clermont County

Clermont County commissioners opened bids Friday for the Courthouse Annex remodel. Harris Construction Co. bid $33,400 for the general contract as the apparent low bidder. other general bids ranged from $41,800 to $63,085 from Cincinnati firms. Plumbing low bid was $3,122 by D C Randolph of Amelia, with estimate $4,200. Ruehlman Spinelli Corp., Amelia, bid $8,400 for heating and air, near an $8,500 estimate. Owensville Electric Co. bid $7,829 for electrical work. McGill & Smith, Amelia, provided consulting engineering for review. In another action, Ruth Ann Glaze of Batavia was hired as a county welfare case worker at $360 monthly, after passing a civil service exam.

Sign Erected South of State Route 125 by Amelia PTA

A new aluminum sign with a white background and redwood trim stands south of State Route 125 in front of Williamsville Tobasco Ek School. The sign originated as an APES project under Amelia Publicity Enthusiasts and was funded with help from Williamsville Tobasco Merwin Elementary schools.

A quiet Cler mont County weekend had one serious accident. Peggy Falch 24 of Goshen was admitted to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a head on crash with Donald Bates 24 of Pleasant Plain on State Rt 132 Shiloh Rd near Goshen. Union rezoning hearing on Omni Development plan

A public hearing at Union Township Hall at 8 p.m. January 18 will address Omni Development Co. Inc. request to rezone eight acres at Mt. Carmel for 114 apartments. Commission previously approved, trustees rejected, Clermont Planning Commission urged disapproval. current proposal gains approval with land dedication for Bell's Lane widening. Subdivision plats for six Fay Road lots in Goshen and 19 Garrett Drive lots in Miami Township also recommended for county approval.
