Hogan Heads ACS Residential Drive

Robert A. Linder, Crusade Chairman for the American Cancer Society local unit, named Timothy S. Hogan Jr. as chairman of the Residential House-to-House Educational Fund Drive in April. Phil Spaeth Dies On Christmas Day

Milford business leader Phil Spaeth, a noted national and international figure in manufacturing, dies on Christmas Day. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew Church at 11:30 a.m. with burial in St. John's Cemetery Cincinnati. He chaired Realistic Co. and supported many civic and charitable causes. Survivors include his widow Dorothy A. Kraus Spaeth and a daughter Irma Anderson of Glenside PA.

Scouts Elect Grant Trail District Chairman

Thomas C. Middendorf of Batavia has been chosen as chairman of Grant Trail District, Boy Scouts of America. He will serve one year and replaces the prior officer. Middendorf is active in school and civic affairs and belongs to the Batavia Businessmen's Association within the Dan Beard Council that covers Brown and Clermont Counties.

Burglar Steals Safe and Cash From Smith's Pharmacy

A thief took a safe containing 883 and 833 in cash from Smith's Pharmacy at 214. The burglar alerted the sheriff by calling about a fight at the Dougle E. Cafe, 2:38 a.m., while deputies investigated. The 500 lb safe was later moved to the parking area behind the building. no disturbance was found at the cafe.

Woman Found Able For Trial

The state and defense plan an early conference to set a trial date for Mrs. Helen A. Nathanson. She has been confined at Lima State Hospital after her husband was shot Sept. 7, 1963 while cleaning the pool at their home. Nathanson, a medical deputy, was restored to reason in Oct. 1968 and returned to Clermont County for a trial set Dec. 12, but was sent back to the hospital due to a deterioration in her condition.
