Edward Jones at the county jail receives a Christmas outfit with misfitting stockings a torn robe and poorly sewn garments. A female prisoner upstairs also complains of ill fitting clothes. The sheriff laughs at the mishap and both inmates adjust to their new attire.
The M E church held a cantata titled Telephony Santa Clause directed by W R Walker and Miss Elma Townsley with the M E choir performing Christmas anthems. Dr W O Hilick portrayed Spexta Claus for the children while the church was decorated with evergreens and palmettos from Florida sent by Clifford Hulick. Miss Bessie Waesner supervised the program, and 225 school members received treats distributed during the event.
The Batavia orchestra delivered a meritorious performance at Maple Grove last Friday night. A crowded house encouraged the young musicians and applauded their efforts, prompting them to schedule a series of entertainments in various towns with Batavia as a likely upcoming stop.
Adams county will publish a new newspaper at Peebles named the Peebles Press. Newton Baker, a Peebles merchant, provides the funds and Holly Byersdoffer, formerly of Ripley Baxco, will handle writing and advertising. The paper is to have a Republican stance.
At last week’s meeting a motion passed to grant Prosecutor Griffith a 1000 dollar allowance for services as attorney and adviser to the commissioners and county officials as provided by section 1974 Ohio laws. The report notes Syrup of Figs’ favorable reception and ongoing positive experience with the California Fig Syrup Company.
Lebanon judge O Neall recently returned from a southern tour inspecting former Unionist properties destroyed in the war. He visited Andersonville where he once was a prisoner and observed the stockade fallen, relics dispersed, and stumps sold to G A R posts. He notes the government cemetery holds over twelve thousand soldiers. He plans a Cincinnati law office after Democrats take power, without abandoning Lebanon residence.
W A Troule, just arrived from Delaware Ohio, opened a commercial school in Sabina Clinton. He skipped teaching on Thursday and Friday and returned home after a Clermont county woman alleged he is the father of a young woman she knows. Troule, a Clermont native, faces skepticism from friends who doubt the accusation.
Harvey Anderson’s Marathon business was hit Friday night when burglars dynamited the safe, escaping with little loot as the blast woke residents. The damaged safe held no lasting prize, spurring calls for better local detective work in the small town.
The very pleasant society event of the past week at Milford marked the thirty-seventh wedding anniversary of Col onel and Mrs Henry C Derricks at their Mt Repose home. About 150 guests attended the day and evening celebration with all seven children present. A bountiful wedding feast was served by the young ladies. Captain Jerry Tice spoke for the family and presented a Bible to the couple. The day ended with a reception and lively evening entertainment.
Three Wooster sisters from Newberry will wed tomorrow evening at their parents home. Belle marries F. S. Grant of Felicity Amanda to Warren Carroll of Newberry and Mary to Edward Jackson of Bethel. Alice DeMarcy also marries Kemp of Walnut Hills at the same event.

The convention will meet in the Senate Chamber of the Capitol in Columbus on January 11, with a Stock Breeders and Farmers Institute session at City Hall on January 10 and 11. The program promises much interest and value as papers are read by prominent farmers and stockmen in the state.

A 25 year old wrecking train hand on the C G P road fell from a box car while crossing a gulch near California. He died instantly from head injuries after a sudden shock. He was single. burial arrangements made by friends from Hamersville.

Samuel Pattison, an eighteen year old Williamsburg resident, faced legal trouble after Christmas drink, and Ariel Ladies receive praise ahead of January performance.
Andy Pohl of Williams burg died Monday at his residence from a stroke of paralysis leaving a widow and children. His funeral occurred this afternoon. A third rail was laid on the Cincinnati and Lebanon railroad to accommodate standard gauge cars from Dayton via Lebanon to Cincinnati, a noted improvement for all parties concerned.

The King's Daughters distributed a large amount of clothing provisions and comforts to the poor last Saturday. Citizens contributed to the effort, and the deeds were praised as binding the world in Christian love and unity and bringing peace of mind to donors and strength to the church.
The Legislature last winter enacted that before entering building contracts, parties must obtain a bond equal to one half of the contract price to ensure payment for labor and materials. Anyone failing to require such bond becomes liable for half the debts incurred by contractors and left unpaid.
John Ban a farmer near West Chester Warren county was badly cut and bruised when his team ran away Friday morning. He was thrown from the wagon and dragged nearly a half mile before the horses were stopped. He lies in critical condition at his home.

A Saturday morning wreck four miles east of Morrow on the Little Miami road involved train No. 7 hitting the rear of No. 81. Engineer Larry Holland was severely injured with a trapped foot.
