Clermont County Safety Drive Continues For Holidays

The region broadens a major traffic safety campaign led by the Clermont County Traffic Safety Council with support from service stations motels and the Ohio Traffic Safety Division. About 8000 safety pamphlets have been distributed across the county and council members including James L. Brown Troy Davis Frank Fender Hubert LaForge Tony Lang William Parrott Walter Raidt Reverend Peyton D Reed and Charles Sibert contributed. Reverend Reed urged drivers to make safety a Christmas gift by giving right of way and courtesy to prevent accidents and hospital stays.

County Creates Sanitary Sewer Department by Resolution

The Clermont County Commissioners adopt a resolution to form a Sanitary Sewer Department with a superintendent and manager. No new county employees will be hired. duties absorbed by water department staff. The plan sets sewer construction standards and usage fees for housing project contractors.

Clermont County High Schools to Contest Holiday Invitational Tourneys

Several Clermont County basketball teams will join holiday invitational events. Owensville and Felicity play in a Felicity tournament December 28 and 29, while Batavia competes in the Indian Hill Invitational on the same dates. Regular season resumes January 8.

Driver Charged In Baby's Death

Donald Fisher 42 of Hamilton charged with second degree manslaughter in the traffic death of five month old Mark Spaulding of Loveland. Infant died at Mercy Hospital after crash when Fisher driving pickup collided with a car driven by George Dunning. Graveside services held at Greenlawn Cemetery Milford. He survives by grandparents George Dunning Joe Spaulding Goshen.

Holiday Tax Receipts Rise in Clermont County

Tax receipts from prepaid tax sales in Clermont County for the week ending December 8 totaled 16 589 02 dollars, up 359 19 from the previous year. Cumulative revenues since July 1 reached 362 017 72, versus 398 118 50 a year ago. Statewide collections surpassed five million dollars for a second straight pre Christmas week, up 3 69 percent from last year.

First Baby of the Year Contest marks 10th year

The Courier and local merchants extend gifts to Clermont County’s first baby born in 1957. Local parents must notify by January 2, with infants not required to be born in the county but parents living there at least one month. If no birth by deadline, the prize is delayed until a birth is reported.
