Court Dismisses School Bus Suit

Judge C Luther Swaim in Clermont County Common Pleas Court dismissed a suit by taxpayers aimed at halting public funding for transporting parochial students. He ruled the State Board of Education should be a party but could not be sued in Clermont County, with related suits in Franklin County. Precedents from New Jersey and New York cited support for providing services or materials to private or parochial students.

Clermont County ASC shifted its Friday operations from West Main Street to SR 132 between Batavia and Owensville. The office opened as usual Monday. Monroe Township trustees to auction 250 feet of 2.5 inch firehose at 10 a.m. January 4 from the Monroe Township Firehouse. Hose features Cincinnati Thread fittings. Legend recalls St Nicholas and Befana delivering Yule gifts.

Pattison Kin Buys Building For Park

OWENSVILLE Clermont County receives a gift of a former Blanchester Youth Foundation building. Miss Aletha Pattison of Cincinnati buys the structure to move to US 50 west of Owensville for a park memory to her father John M Pattison Clermont County’s only Governor of Ohio who died in 1906. Former Clermont Planning Commission director Donald Buckley helped design the park. Glen McHenry notes local funds could not support repairs. An oil portrait of Pattison hangs in the county courthouse.
