Clermont County extension chief Roy Battles urges hog raisers to lift production toward 1948 quotas despite shortages. He promotes farrowing safety with guard rails, warming pigs, and attentive care to cut piglet losses. The note also covers a statewide teacher manpower registration to fill 1943-44 vacancies as Ohio seeks 300 plus openings.
Frank Schobert, Owensville farmer, was re elected president of the Clermont County Fair Board at the board’s annual meeting. A 1943 county fair in Owensville is doubtful unless transportation and war conditions improve. Officers elected included C L Jones vice chairman J W Evans secretary and A F Kayser treasurer.
Summerside Methodist Sunday School presents White Gifts for the King on Sunday morning December 27 at 10 15 starting in the Sunday School hour. Each department will give a White Gift and old Christmas hymns are sung. Children will present songs readings and there will be 15 perfect attendance awards. Everyone is invited to attend.
County 3-A Chairman Saxton announced 1943 crop production payments to spur farmers to shift chiefly to war crops. Eligibility requires meeting farm specific war crop goals and 90 percent adherence to both allotments and crop goals with substitution allowed after 90 percent targets. rates list corn 3.6 cents per bushel wheat 9.2 cents per bushel burley tobacco 0.4 cents per pound.
Hal G. Sours announces final distribution of 1941 automobile license tag revenue to counties cities and villages totaling 589227 from 72 percent share plus 25690 from the 5 percent fund about 291 per county and bringing the total returned to 20834706.19. Checks for 1941 distribution will be mailed Wednesday. Future 1942 distribution will occur after New Year once last minute checks are completed.
At the Amelia Chapter O BE S regular meeting on December 28 officers will be installed including Corrie Wilkerson as worthy matron and James Wilkerson as worthy patron along with Stella Carmichael as associate matron and Norman Fagin as associate patron.
Attorney James W Walker announces a lease securing new offices in the Hamilton Building Batavia Ohio, transitioning from his ten year tenancy in the same structure. A Cincinnati P and G veteran and former Clermont County Deputy Surveyor he now serves Clermont County Draft Board No 2 as Official Advisor.
Clermont counties enlists 600 4-H members in wartime duties with a re organized program. Projects focus on farm and home chores, canning and conservation, garden and livestock production, and home repair. Girls will increase canning and remaking clothing while enrollments rise across 36 clubs to maximize national aid.
The Clermont County courthouse will be closed on Christmas Day December 25 and for a regular half day on Saturday December 26.

Mrs Caroline E Walker grandmother of Pvt Donald Brown Walker with the 103rd Engineers Battalion 28th Division Camp Livingston La and attorney James W Walker Batavia celebrated her 88th birthday with her immediate family at her Batavia home last Sunday.
Eighteen Clermont county students are enrolled at Miami University in Oxford this semester ending January 30. Ohio counties total representation nears all but four. students hail from 31 other states and three foreign countries.

R. H. Fairman of Batavia has been advanced from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. Coast Guard. Born in Batavia in 1902 he spent much of his youth in Washington D. C. and graduated from George Washington University. He served 17 years in government before joining the Coast Guard in 1939 after Lighthouse Service work. He is the son of Joe Fairman, longtime Clermont County editor.
