Government towboat sinks on Ohio River with 22 aboard
The government towboat Margaret sank on the Ohio River between Chile and Augusta Saturday night with 22 on board, 11 missing. Among the drowned are Major Pitman’s wife and two daughters, Captain Hart, his daughter and husband. Only one body recovered so far. Authorities blame the captain as the coroner notes.

AEROPLANE FALLS 3000 FEET NEAR MT CRAB PIKES FARM
Hugh Robbins a 19 year old from Williamsburg piloted the aeroplane when a wing cable detached at 3000 feet causing loss of control. The craft landed in a tree on John Foster's farm. Robbins was unhurt but the plane suffered about 1500 dollars in damage. Robbins had just overhauled the engine for winter work. A city machinist arrived Monday to arrange repairs.

Kenneth Hillen drove to Washington D C from Saturday December 11 arriving Tuesday with no interruption. He traveled via Columbus averaging two hundred miles daily. The trip aimed to take Miss Jennie Penn’s car to Washington where she will winter with her brother Col J A Penn. The auto will be used by them this winter while he visited relatives and sighted the area before returning.

Elizabeth Morgan Receives Fourragere for Marine Service
Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan of Marathon is honored posthumously for son Enos C. Morgan a private in the U S Marine Corps who sacrificed life at Soissons on July 18 1918.
