Clermonter Suffocated in Feed Bin at Ubiko Milling
John Herron formerly of Williamsburg and resident of St Bernard died at Ubiko Milling Company while performing duties in a 30 foot deep feed bin. He and a partner fell into a hole covered by tons of feed. Herron died from suffocation after an hourlong rescue. His wife and two children survive. burial held in Williamsburg.

Batavia High School opened with an 81 to 7 win over Owensville on Friday night as Bishop drilled five field goals in the first half and Ashburn added three. Mail Contract Awarded In Batavia To Ex Sheriff
The mail contract between Batavia post office and the N and W railroad and C G P traction was awarded to ex sheriff William at a bid of 80 dollars last Monday. Four other bidders bid but names are not public. The carrier will use auto or track and began duties on December 16. James Roach, the previous carrier, retires to farming after years of service.

Mrs Bernstein Dies of Rare Hodgine Disease
Mrs. George Bernstein died at her home above Batavia Friday evening after a yearlong illness from a very rare disease called Hodgine. It attacked the left arm and chest, swelling the arm to three times its size and causing intense suffering. Survived by husband one son and three daughters. Burial at Fayettesville on Monday.

The County Experiment Farm reports a four year crop rotation with corn soybeans wheat clover and soil tests. Fertilizers limestone and manure markedly boost yields on both drained and undrained land with notable gains from phosphate manure on corn and lime with complete fertilizer on wheat. Two ton per acre lime raises corn yield and improves subsequent clover. Obituary of Moses Leonard Gillman from Ohio
Moses Leonard Gillman born December 23 1850 in Ohio died 1920 at an advanced age after a presumed apoplexy. He married Matilda Willis in 1885 and Rosa Pierce in 1908 and left three sons Orval Emery and Henry a daughter Janie many stepchildren ten grandchildren and fourteen step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the M S church and he was remembered as upright industrious and kind with strong opinions and a readiness to uphold right. Card of Thanks expresses gratitude to friends neighbors schoolchildren and Mr Moore for funeral duties.

Batavian Dies at 62 After Long Illness
Miles Bicking, lifelong Batavia resident, died last Thursday morning at his sister’s home after a lengthy heart ailment. Once a grocer in Batavia, he later worked in banking before retiring. He was 62 and survived by four sisters. He and Mrs. McTamany had shared a home on North Street. Funeral at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon with burial in Union Cemetery.

Automobile Stolen From Mt Carmel Mansion Garage
Thieves entered the Mt. Carmel area garage of Rudy Schneck last Wednesday around 8 am and took his Ford. The car was later abandoned near Main Street by the reservoir and recovered by Sheriff B F Swing. The thiefs also took a blanket from Harley Bell and tried other break ins. No culprits found yet.
