New Court House Looms for Clermont County

Clermont County Commissioners approve a resolution of necessity and plan a $70,000 courthouse project with $20,000 county funds and federal aid covering the rest. Bonds of $1,000 each at 6 percent will be issued, pending Civil Works Administration approval.

Clermont County 4-H Banquet Draws 400 Attend

Last Thursday December 14 the first annual Clermont County 4-H Club Banquet at the Ohio National Guard Armory Batavia drew over four hundred 4-H youth from as many farms with leaders and advisors. State leader W H Palmer spoke on 4 H work and AAA time impact. Leaders and clubs were saluted for project completion and community support aided by Owensville Fair funding.

Friday night at the local armory Batavia faces rival Owensville in a bid to preserve an undefeated boys record of 7 0. Coach Maurice Burkholder has guided a strong squad as Owensville relies on center Ruhl to spearhead their attack. The girls improve though smaller in size while Loveland handed Batavia a 41 18 defeat earlier in December.

Four Ashland Residents Injured in Bridge Crash

Four people from Ashland Kentucky were injured last Thursday when their car skidded on the Grant Memorial Bridge at Pt Pleasant and struck three parked cars. They were taken to Meade Memorial hospital New Richmond. Injured include Helen Kirk with serious pelvic injuries, Mrs Emmitt Wurts with facial lacerations, O F Curt with broken rib, Mrs Mabel Curd with a fractured shoulder.
