County road projects set for 1930 capital in Clermont
Clermont county commissioners, in a conference with Governor Cooper and Robert N. Waid, plan highway and public works in 1930 costing about 175000 dollars. Of this, 130000 will fund county roads and 45000 township roads, with bids and contracts to be placed soon as part of Hoover era stabilization.

Former Batavians Remembered In New York Obituary Notes
Rutherford B. Corbin, son of the late Colonel H. C. Corbin who lived in Batavia, died in New York on November 10 and was buried in Arlington cemetery. He left a widow and sister Mrs. Carson. He was a World War veteran and longtime newspaper man in the East. Porter Fridman, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Fridman formerly of Batavia, died in Detroit last week and was buried from White Funeral Home New Richmond at Mt. Zion. He was Elmer Fridman’s brother and is remembered by many Batavians.

W A Hicks a Hamilton county bar member and brother of the late Louis Hicks died at his Madisonville home December 10 at age 84. He is survived by a son Ray and a daughter Helen. Burial will be held Thursday in Madisonville.

A Batavia vs Williamsburg girls game ended in a tight, rough effort with Batavia slightly heavier and the score tied by quarters. The Batavia boys then trailed Williamsburg with uneven play and a final 27 to 14. Williamsburg’s Young Bailey suffered a spun ankle. two players were fouled out. Grand Jury Reports on County Theft Ring and Chicken Thefts
The Clermont county grand jury met Friday and Saturday with many witnesses to investigate thefts, especially chicken thefts. Six members and partners led by Sheriff Roberts secured confessions and the prosecutor pressed charges with 32 indictments, 29 for theft of fowl, one for non sufficient funds, and one for illegitimate child support. Prosecuting Attorney Forrest Ely supervised the proceedings as the jury was discharged after reporting.

Fatal Auto Crash Claims Bethel Truant Officer
Ed Wilson aged 63 of Bethel ex truant officer for Clermont county was killed Friday night when the car driven by his son Thurman Wilson struck a freight train on C G P tracks. The collision injured both occupants and wrecked the car wedging it under the coal car. Thurman Wilson was injured and taken to a Cincinnati hospital. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM. Ed Wilson is survived by his wife and one son. Coroner ruled accidental death.
