Clermont Farm Bureau Holds Annual Meeting in Batavia
The Clermont Farm Bureau and Clermont Live Stock Co operative Association met at Batavia town hall on December 11. President Robert R Caldwell and Ray Stoddard spoke on achievements and rising membership to about 4 386 with county reports adding 20 to 25 contracts. County agent William G Winentiller noted growth in extension work and 215 youths completing club work. Officers elected: President Caldwell, VP Edwards, Sec-Treas Stoddard. The group voted to discontinue the livestock contract after January 1 1927 while preserving producer benefits. P O Wilson of the Producers Co operative Commission Association spoke on livestock marketing and savings of about 27 200, with market insights from Cincinnati firms. J F Walker of the Ohio Sheep Wool Growers Association urged cooperative action and legislation. The meeting closed with a sense of a productive day.

Children Ansteadt and Murphy Recover From Surgery
Gilbert Ansteadt son of Mr and Mrs Albert Ansteadt and Edith Murphy daughter of Mr and Mrs R B Murphy underwent appendectomies last week in Cincinnati. Both recovered well and are on the road to health. Many Batavians have undergone the same operation with good results.

Former Batavian resident Grant Ulrey dies in Loveland
Grant Ulrey, once of Batavia township, died at his Loveland home Friday after a brief illness. He was widely esteemed. survived by a widow and several children. Burial is planned for Monday.

J L Roudebush Dies At Nicholsville After Long Illness
Clermont county figure J L Roudebush died at his Nicholsville home after weeks of illness in his 76th year. A noted agriculture lecturer for the State Farmers Institute he edited this paper and wrote for Farm and Fireside. Survivors include his widow Alice and brother A P Roudebush. Funeral from Nicholsville M E church, burial Owensville. He was a Mason and K of P member.

Under the new rule, Ripley switches to metered water charges. Patrons pay 75 cents for the first 1000 gallons and 2 cents for each additional 1000 gallons, with no minimum charge. Charges based on usage rather than taps, hydrants, or fittings.

Mrs Hannah Day a former Batavia lady died at her Cincinnati home last Thursday. Widow of Henry Day she was aunt of Mrs James Griffith and long time resident with her family in this place where her parents were pioneers. She is survived by son Edward Day. Burial at Spring Grove cemetery Saturday afternoon.

Burley Tobacco Pool Sells Heavy Through December
Lexington reports the Burley Tobacco Growers Co operative Association moved about 11.5 million pounds of the 1923 45 crops this week. Purchases included 8.75 million pounds by Southwestern Leaf Tobacco Co of Richmond Va and 2.75 million pounds by American Tobacco Co represented by J E Lipscomb Jr. of Louisville. Additional sales brought total American purchases since Oct 9 to 34.75 million pounds. The pool also disposed of 1926 crop receipts with prices generally higher than independent growers. Across the Burley district growers face low auction prices and dissatisfaction, especially in Tennessee and Northern Kentucky where returns lag near 1920 figures.

H. Jordan of Bracken County Kentucky posted a profit of 566 dollars from 82 White Plymouth Rock hens, averaging 6.87 dollars per hen. County Agent J L Miller helped him demonstrate improved poultry methods and feeding housing and management to show outcomes of well run flocks.

The Burley Tobacco Growers Co operative Association sold about 8.75 million pounds of 1923 1924 and 1925 redired crops to Southwestern Leaf Tobacco Co of Richmond Virginia. Ice storage room expands capacity at Fourth Street facility

Last week offerings improved over the prior period and sales were satisfactory. Prices ranged from 1e to 84c per pound. It costs 2c to sell over the loose leaf, so a seller who cannot fetch more than 2c loses labor and time value.
Early tobacco delivery nets top price for Slade
Work moving and corn gathering wrap up as tobacco raisers ready crops for delivery. The early birds, including Slade, delivered first and sold to T. J. Dugan of Williamsburg for 20 cents. The crop was fine and brought the top price.
