Elisha Lawrence Bennett born March 8 1842 near Amelia Ohio died December 1 1917 at his home in Hamlet aged 75 years 8 months 28 days He served three years in the War of the Rebellion with Company F 89th Ohio Infantry and was honorably discharged May 25 1908 due to illness He belonged to Q W Robinson Post G A R Amelia and was married January 21 1877 to Anna Belle Green with five children Lowell Karl Harry May Houser and Charles who died in infancy Surviving sister Misa Hattie Bennett of Lebanon He joined the Baptist church in Amelia about 45 years ago after earlier terms in Missouri and died peacefully after plans to visit Florida with his wife were interrupted by illness He was remembered as quiet loyal and generous with strong religious influence He leaves no further details beyond the prayerful tone of the obituary.
