The Clermont county section promotes a Batavia homecoming during a holiday week with a county wide invitation. A large parade and banquet are planned with visitors from surrounding areas and regional press crews invited to attend.
Golbie Desperado, who killed the Franklin marshal during an arrest, was caught near Loveland and leveled near Level Plains in Warren county. Sheriff Patterson led bloodhounds to the capture after a three day chase, with the suspect foiled by an escape through jail roof vents. He stole two horses and a shotgun during the pursuit and was returned to Lebanon jail under guard.
The 1908 ballot is described as vast, with about 60 names across presidential, state, congressional, judicial, county, and other offices. Voters limited by time are likely to mark a straight party line, ensuring the Republican ticket predominates.
Mr and Mrs C B Lytle plan to return to their Afton home this week after a year in Portland Oregon where flowers bloom and air is soft. Stark Lytle son of the family serves as lieutenant of police in Portland and doing well. Mr Lytle hopes to attend a September home coming and speaks of Oregon beauty while preferring Port Ohio.
Beginning this week the star route contracted by Marvin Knott was discontinued. The route covered Milford Mulberry Mt Repose and Goshen with Mulberry Newtonaville Edenton and Blanchester mail moved to the G M L traction car. Goshen mails go to Loveland then Hills Station to Goshen.
Homer Kain, a popular expressman, last Saturday turned over his outfit and goodwill to Chas. Gelvin who took possession Monday morning and assumed operation.
John Redman, described as an all round bad man, is jailed in Batavia after allegedly shooting Bennett in the breast over a one dollar debt. Bennett, a former local resident, could not pay the amount when demanded by Redman, who reportedly drew a gun and opened fire. Redman, employed previously as a farm hand by Mr. Brinkman of Olive Branch, is said to have an uncontrollable temper and was guarded by three men on his arrest.
A Friday night performance titled A Day at the Union Depot drew a large audience. The cast of characters featured Station Master John Glancy and others including Shirley Griffith Juniata Spangler and Marjorie Walker. Proceeds funded books for the local library and the show praised for its lively acting and Batavian charm.
Frank A Brown plans to relocate to Batavia from the river road area and will hold a large sale before moving. The auction on December 29 will offer farm implements machinery horses cattle swine hay grain and household goods starting at 10 00 a m with H R Sweet as auctioneer. Another sale by Nicholas Furlong to relocate to Olucioall lists 36 acres farm and dairy equipment milking cattle horses farm tools and parlor kitchen furniture on December 20 starting at 9 00 a m.
G W Felter a renowned Clermont educator was stricken with paralysis during Sunday school at Milford M E church and remains in critical condition. Aunt Hannah Peterson Mrs Moore aged eighty plus suffered a paralytic stroke in her Williamsburg area home and was found by neighbors later that day. doctors fear she may not recover due to her age.
Legisature approved 50000 for a state home to care for crippled children and educate them. A proposal to sell Premont to the State for this purpose was discussed with Mrs Pattison. She later signaled possible agreement though sale price was not disclosed.
The Batavia township schools show 11 pupils enrolled by the end of the second month with no truants. Attendance improved and interest increased over October. All teachers attended the second meeting and reports were favorable. The first examination tests were satisfactory though lower than last year due to absence of daily grades. Reports follow for October 8 to November 8, 1906.
Lowell Roudebush state lecturer for Farmers Institutes lectures at Hillsboro today and tomorrow. He discusses noxious weeds and control, sheep keeping, climate and weather implications, and profitable horse breeding. He is praised as a popular lecturer and practical agricultural worker.
The heaviest poultry crop in years floods markets with turkeys and ducks. Kentucky supplies two thirds of Cincinnati area poultry while dealers struggle with minimal profits, paying 12 to 15 cents per foot and selling at similar dressed prices. Over 300 turkeys were put in cold storage the day after Thanksgiving.
The Le rado Farmers Institute lists state speakers J A Dobie and A H Judy with a schedule including musical numbers recitations and talks on crop rotation feeding hogs profit farming texture and fertility marketing core crops and tile depth. It invites questions on farming topics and local offices.
Kentucky farmer H W Dennison travels to Batavia to host a meeting with Hon H B Sherman national organizer of the American Society of Equity. The lecture on profitable prices and controlled marketing is set for Thursday at 2 pm at the city hall with Sherman likely to speak again in Georgetown Friday.

In Common Pleas Court Walker Rich vs Village of Loveland and F A Stanley vs Emery Scott Martin alleges 6000 damages for alleged slander. Also a final note on Kennedy's Laxative Cough Syrup branding.
Frightful accident near Glen Rose Friday last injures Emrick Carvin trustee of Pierce township. His overcoat caught in a flywheel, tearing clothing from his body, skilling his left arm, breaking three ribs and crushing his right leg with bones protruding. He was taken unconscious to his home, where Dr. Ricker attended him. recovery possible with careful nursing.
Bethel voters reject saloons 62 majority in 809 cast, sealing three closures within thirty days. Drys mobilized clergy and temperance workers, holding nightly meetings to sway public opinion.
Two rulings handed down by Squire Brown in Cincinnati determine liability for damages in transport. The Methodist church shows growth with two conversions four new members and two baptisms. Finances are up to date and a new fence and cement walk were installed paid for. The parsonage was repaired expanded and improved at a total cost of 225 dollars. Rev Burdsall and family enjoy a comfortable home as church services anticipate revival in January.
