Mrs. Hannan Davis relict of Joshua Davis and long-time Batavia resident dies at her son J. B. Reed’s home in Williamsburg aged about 80. She was born in Fleming County Kentucky and married Joshua Davis there before moving to Batavia. Interment in Union cemetery is planned.

Market Report Shows Strong Demand for Old Leaf Tobacco
Offerings last week were light but market stronger for all grades and especially for fancy leaf. New sales were inferior in quality, mostly houseburnt and light body tobacco with quiet demand and unsatisfactory prices. Weekly offerings totaled 873 birds, up from 638 prior week and 1359 birds same week last year. Brown county accounted for 18 birds sold: 7 at 3.10 to 4.64, 9 at 6 to 9 percent, 3 at 9.44 to 12 percent, and 1 at 2.0 percent. Nine birds were new three from 5.60 to 7.70, four from 8.90 to 9.34.
