Clermont National Bank Announces Promotions and Moves

The Clermont National Bank board announced seven staff promotions and management changes. Richard Porter was named East Office manager at Milford Shopping Center, succeeding Wayne L. Smith who departs December 20 for a commercial loan role at Irwin Union Bank in Columbus Indiana. Porter previously led the Batavia Branch.

Officials Fill Vacancy On Antipoverty Board

Clermont County commissioners name Robert Hannah to the antipoverty Community Action Commission replacing Lois Brown. They also note Brown’s departure and request for a replacement. County Engineer Rush asks state to repair Old SR 125 through Bantam before turnover. Rush cites damage from haul traffic and urges berm and surface repairs. The county will accept three sections of Old SR 156 reverting to local control in fair condition. Sheriff reports 2565 meals served in November at jail.

Mussey-Again Seeks Reelection to Ohio House in 1970

William Mussey, state representative for Brown and Clermont counties, announced he will run for a second term in 1970. He serves on Agriculture and Conservation Local Government and Urban Affairs and Commerce and Labor committees. He cited a $3 million UC Clermont branch and a tax exemption bill aiding rural water systems as major accomplishments. Petitions will circulate in Brown and Clermont for the Republican primary.

New Milford Bank Cleared by Court to Open Milford Branch

Clermont National Bank of Milford challenged Citizens Bank Co in 1969. Judge Thomas Moodey dismissed the suit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, clearing Citizens Bank to open Milford offices early in 1970. The bank plans expansion with U S Grant Financial Corp and has further branch applications in Mt Carmel and Batavia. Board members and officers are listed.

Five Indicted and One Dismissed By Grand Jury

Five individuals were indicted by a grand jury on burglary and related charges while one case was dismissed. Defendants include Alfred E. Jones and Donald Wilson tied to burglaries at Glen Willow Roller Rink and other locations, with charges covering concealment of stolen property.

State Plans Hearing On Highway Changes

The Ohio Department of Highways will hold a public hearing at 10 a.m. on December 16 in Batavia to discuss relocating and abandoning portions of SR 132 and SR 222 in Clermont County. Bethel Tate Levy Passes By Narrow Five Mill Vote

Bethel voters approved a five mill operating levy for Bethel Tate Schools by 63 votes with an unofficial tally of 581 for and 517 against. The levy had previously failed in November by 774 to 810.

Nichols Seeks Judges Seat in Democratic Primary

Hugh L. Nichols announces his candidacy for the six year term as Common Pleas Judge in the Democratic Primary on May 5. A Batavia attorney with 17 years of Clermont County practice, he cites legal training from UC Law and Navy service in World War II and Korea. He chairs local boards, belongs to multiple bar groups, and has four children.

Primary Vote Seen On Hospital Bonds

Clermont County Hospital Commission favors placing the bond issue on the May primary ballot to avoid loss of momentum. Architects presented two hospital concept sketches but costs could not be estimated yet. A special meeting is set for December 22 at Batavia courthouse annex to decide.

Council Greets New Members in Batavia lame-duck Session
