A World War I letter from Private Charles C. Jackson describes friendly scenes in France and news of a long voyage to the country. The notice reports Orus R. Hill of Company G, 16th Infantry killed by spinal meningitis on October 1, with a nurse’s account of his hospitalization and a chaplain’s funeral message.
Private Hugh Lindsey Nichols reports in a Scotland letter that German fleet surrender talks reached the Allies, with the fleet meeting them at 3 a.m. and lying nearby under guard. He notes tours of Edinburgh and the castle, a fleet review by Admiral Sims, and mentions being sworn in on July 21 and other dates. Nichols says mail is no longer censored and places his unit near the Firth of Forth bridge.

The verdict is the county's largest personal injury award. His attorneys were his brother ex-Mayor Wm. M. Fridman and Robert S. Alcorn. Mr. Fridman formerly lived in New Richmond.

Sheriff Swing left Tuesday morning for Wichita Falls Texas with a warrant for M Newell formerly of Afton charged with non support. He has been absent since last spring when indicted by the grand jury. Newell’s arrest requires requisition papers in Austin. He is believed to be in jail at Wichita Falls. A wife and three children, ages three to unspecified, were deserted.
