The notice lists subscription prices of one dollar seventy five cents paid in advance two dollars if paid within the year and two dollars fifty cents if paid after the year expires. It also notes that advertisements are inserted at the usual rates.
The Clermont Courier praises the rise of female education at Mrs. Fletcher's Academy and Mrs. Flender's Female Seminary. It argues women are mentally capable, equal to men, and worthy of serious study, urging noble conduct as they enter adulthood and public life.

Clermont county teachers gathered at Amelia with vice president presiding. Essays on vocal music in common schools and on study balance were read and discussed. Cobb's reading books praised and recommended for county schools. Members urged to write essays on raising education standards. Adjourned to Amelia last Saturday in January 1847.
The Pittsburgh Gazette notes the death of Rev. Thornton Fleming a pioneer Methodist preacher west of the Alleghenies. He died in Elizabeth Allegheny county Pa on Saturday last. He was highly esteemed and died with the honor of a godly life and the joyful hope of immortality. Ezekiel Cooper was the only older Methodist preacher in the United States.

The report from Clerk W. W. Boyle details the Atlantic wreck after a gale. About 45 passengers were aboard. many leaped into surf for shore, several died, and cargo was lost or rifled. Capt. Dustan’s body returned to Staten Island. Captain Raynes perished after reaching shore. Insurance on the vessel exceeded eighty thousand dollars. Mohegan assisted the survivors.
The brig Lincoln of Deer Isle Raymond master from Bangor on the 6th inst. loaded lumber for Brooklyn New York wrecked ten miles southwest of Gay Head on Monday morning. Deck load washed off. Masts fell overboard. Richard Brown Jr. of Deer Isle died of exposure Monday night. Wa. Adame of Deer Isle died Tuesday morning. The vessel grounded on the south beach of the Island on the night of the 25th at 10 o'clock. Benjamin J. Saunders, mate, perished.

An extract from a Rochester editor describes a near shipwreck aboard the Helen Strong near Buffalo with a broken rudder chain, burst steam pipe, and passengers saved by guiding rope and rocks. A Detroit voyage vessel Marepgo remains at anchor two miles from shore in distress as storms lash the lake.
