Clarence Curliss a shoemaker and harness maker suffers blood poisoning in his foot from a blister on the toe. He uses crutches to move to his shop as his swollen foot worsens. Friends fear for his health.

River flood claims many along Ohio riverfront

Reported along the Ohio riverfront and bottoms, high water and ram page caused drownings and captures as rabbit hunters used clubs and stones. The flood is described as an extra issue not due until February.

Lee Norris Dies in Mason County Ky After Long Illness

Lee Norris, formerly of this place, died at relatives home in Mason county Kentucky last Sunday week. His wife was summoned to arrange the funeral. He had many friends here. Also, James Gest funeral was held at the Methodist church last Friday with burial in Union Cemetery. Gest was about 70, born and raised in Batavla township, leaves a wife and daughter.

Opening game at the armory between Pigers and O. N. G. boys

Cincinnati University's Pigers faced the O. N. G. team in the season opener at the armory Friday night before a large crowd. Both sides played hard with each player giving top effort. Batavia led the score at Friday night’s game, and weekly games are planned at this location with public support urged.

Superintendent Luther Dead Near Mt. Orab

Clarence Luther former head of the eh schools died at his home near Mt. Orab Saturday and was buried at the Presbyterian church there. He led local schools in 1910 until resigning for a rest and did not recover. He leaves a wife.

Chicken thefts reported across county with high egg prices

Chicken thieves hit several areas, taking about 160 birds from Thos Daugherty near Boston after previously taking from L C Dietz. Authorities note thieves familiar with local surroundings and use auto trucks, leaving no trace. It is a total loss.

State Farmers Institute planning meeting to be held

A representative from Ohio State University will visit Batavia on December 9 at 10 p.m. to discuss the State and Independent Farmers Institutes in Clermont county this winter. Attendees will review a statewide questionnaire and share methods from past institute programs.

Community Club Plans Fundraiser and Play

The Community Club meeting at the high school auditorium last Thursday night drew a large crowd of school representatives. chairman Bishop presided, with Mrs. Horn secretary, reading minutes and receiving new members. Plans included lunch equipment, playground needs, and a future play to raise school funds with additional attractions. Next meeting set for Thursday evening January 6, 1922.

Town Council Awards Hall Rent and Considers Pike Plan

In regular session the council received one bid for renting the town hall three nights weekly. Dowdney & Zarmuhle offered $26 per month and secured the hall, possession set for January 1, 1022. The panel also weighs building a pike from Leonard's corner to the Williams burg hill with commissioners asked to assist.
