Slate of Candidates for Peace Officers Presented

Amelia Ohio nominating committee will present a slate of candidates for the Clermont County Peace Officers Association at its December 9 turkey banquet at the D X Ranch on Route 125 between here and Bethel. Brig Gen Pascal Strong, commanding officer of the Ohio River Division Army Engineers, will be main speaker. Officers to be elected in January with installation after balloting. dinner starts at 7 p m.

Christmas Coloring Contest Open to Clermont County Children

The Courier invites children aged five to eight to color Christmas pictures printed elsewhere in the issue. Ages nine to twelve must draw larger than the specified size and color to rules. Prizes are 3, 2, and 1 dollars. Entries due by Tuesday at 10, with weekly winners announced. Submit to Courier or mail by Saturday. Include name age address and phone. Christmas Club funds to boost Clermont economy locally

Local banks report Christmas Club disbursements totaling over sixty-five thousand dollars to members in Clermont County. Milford Building Loan and Savings mailed twenty eight thousand two hundred eighty three dollars in checks. Other banks and associations add funds, with total potential local spend near one hundred thousand dollars before Christmas. Red Cross seeks household goods for Mrs Wells and family as husband serves in the armed forces.

Williamsburg Man Hurt In Car Crash

Williamsburg man Louis Bates of Route 2 was injured early Friday when his car skidded off U S 50, a mile and a half east of Milford. He suffered severe facial cuts and possible rib fractures and was taken to Our Lady of Mercy hospital by Craver Ambulance.

Glen Este Man Elected Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Division

Glen Este resident Allen K. Smythe, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Smythe, past president of the Mt. Washington Kiwanis Club, was elected lieutenant governor of the Fifth Division at the Kiwanis convention. He lives on Luminista Lane in Mt. Washington and is chief statistician for the Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Co. Smythe helped found the Anderson Hills Kiwanis Club and has long been active in Kiwanis work.

Patterson announces appointments in 11th Mobile Group

Col. Harry J. Patterson of the 11th Mobile Support Group Ohio Civil Defense Corps names Fred F. Holt of New Richmond as inspector of the group police section. Donald F. Sanford of Lebanon as assistant transportation officer and Frank J. Blackwood of Woodlawn as supply clerk. Major Henry A. Rattermann resigns as senior inspector, will serve in advisory role. Fred F. Dennis named supply officer and contracting officer.

Batavia Council Adopts Pinball Shuffle Board and Jukebox Rules

Batavia council approved an ordinance affecting pinball machines shuffle boards and juke boxes in restaurants and taverns. Licenses set at 100 dollars for exhibitors 300 dollars for distributors with 15 dollar exhibitor fees and 300 dollar distributor licenses plus 15 dollar juke box fee. Machines must be unplugged at 11 pm and no one under 18 may play. The meeting also aligns drunken driving penalties with state law and praise fire department and merchants association for drought and Christmas decorations.

Two Held To Jury On Larceny Count

John Dawson and Walter Osborne of Cincinnati bound over to the Clermont County Grand Jury on grand larceny charges. They were arrested at a junkyard by Cincinnati police and held in county jail on $2000 bond each. They allegedly stole a reel of copper wire valued at $852.69 from a CG&E substation four miles west of New Richmond. The reel weighed 1800 pounds and measured 2900 feet. Sterling L. Brown and Harold D. Nichols appeared as counsels for the defendants and plant, respectively.

Route 50 Improvement Petition To Ohio Council

Clermont Brown Route 50 group meets state road unit at the Ohio Construction Council building in Columbus at 9 30 a m to present a petition for Route 50 from Milford to Vera Cruz and to keep the highway in its present location. Members include James Holcomb Col J A Lewis Carl Sovalsky and Rep John Hayden.
