The Clermont Extension Office Homemakers' Clubs showcased holiday plans at a Christmas Open House. Heather Wiebell, 5, and Micheeline Cartwright helped decorate gingerbread men in a kid friendly activity, highlighting party ideas and gift projects for all ages.
Glen Este High School choir under Daniel Krueger will share a public 2 p.m. concert at Eastgate Mall on Sunday December 6 featuring traditional Christmas music. The seventy eight voice group performs at Clermont Hospital December 1 and Children’s Hospital Cincinnati December 2, plus events at SEM Villa Milford December 9.
The Olive Branch United Methodist Church sponsors an Annual Smorgasbord and Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec 5 from 5 to 8 pm in the educational building at Amelia Olive Branch Road and Old SR 74. Menu features turkey beef all you can eat salads vegetables desserts. Price is 4.50 for adults and 3 for children 4 to 10. Handmade Christmas items bread cakes and cookies will be on sale.
The Clermont County League of Women Voters sponsors the Traveling Medicine Show on December 8 at 7 45 p m at St Marks Lutheran Church Buckwheat Milford. Teen Challenge representative will discuss drugs effects and coping strategies. Call 528 2695 for details. Public welcome.

New Richmond church ladies of St. Peter's Bethel-New Richmond Road host annual Christmas Boutique and Luncheon on Friday December 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring handmade items wreaths ornaments baked goods jellies and more.
The Goshen Lions Club will sponsor the annual Goshen Christmas Fair at Marr School on Saturday December 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa Claus will visit from noon to 4 p.m.

Cincinnati Gas and Electric was fined 200000 by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for inadequate monitoring of quality assurance at the Zimmer Nuclear Power Plant in Moscow. Kaiser Engineering supplied QA documentation. NRC officials fault CG&E for overreliance and pledged stricter procedures and intensified inspections at Zimmer and other sites. The NRC noted it also bears responsibility for earlier missed issues and plans changes in QA monitoring nationwide.
Clermont County Common Pleas Judge Louis J. Schwartz ruled against Chelsea Moore Development Corp in its challenge to Union Township Zoning Referendum Issue 17. The decision finds ballot wording and petition language sufficiently clear and aligned, signaling only early-stage outcomes as options such as appeals remain possible.
George Armstrong seeks to move his mobile home business to the SR 32 Glen Este Williamsville site, requesting a B-7 zone change on about 12 acres in Union Township from A-1 and R-2. The planning commission opposed erosion concerns and noted a viable alternative, with the recommendation moving to the zoning board then trustees. Armstrong hopes for a visible site and may stay in Clermont County.
Recount shows no change in election results in Union Township where the close margin left incumbent Catherine B. Wuerdemann in third. Recounts were requested for Miami Township trustee and Clermont Northeastern School District write in candidates Paul Werring and Jarman, plus write ins for New Richmond Washington Township trustee Walter A. Fry for Wayne Township trustee and Carl E. Ritter for Wayne Township clerk.
Batavia official Fran Calvin Lewis notes he supported Armstrong Homes' request only as a courtesy and that he did not want to be involved. He says he felt he was shot down and used as a trustee in the dispute over mobile homes.
Clermont County officials, led by Commissioner Dale F Romohr, pressed for higher jail capacity. By using two person cells in modular units and existing facilities at Batavia, the count would rise to 48 in modular jail and 24 in the old jail. A federal order limited some beds, and the planned Justice Complex, due 1983, would hold 60 male and 12 female prisoners.
Two men were arrested in Goshen after a BCI undercover operation at a Waffle House parking lot on SR 28. BCI Superintendent Jack McCormick said the agency works closely with local authorities on drug and theft by deception cases.
