Glen Este High Chorus plans December Eastgate concert

Glen Este High School choir under Daniel Krueger will share a public 2 p.m. concert at Eastgate Mall on Sunday December 6 featuring traditional Christmas music. The seventy eight voice group performs at Clermont Hospital December 1 and Children’s Hospital Cincinnati December 2, plus events at SEM Villa Milford December 9.

Smorgasbord Olive Branch Christmas Bazaar by United Methodist Church

The Olive Branch United Methodist Church sponsors an Annual Smorgasbord and Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec 5 from 5 to 8 pm in the educational building at Amelia Olive Branch Road and Old SR 74. NRC fines CGE for inadequate Zimmer monitoring in Moscow

Cincinnati Gas and Electric was fined 200000 by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for inadequate monitoring of quality assurance at the Zimmer Nuclear Power Plant in Moscow. Kaiser Engineering supplied QA documentation. NRC officials fault CG&E for overreliance and pledged stricter procedures and intensified inspections at Zimmer and other sites. The NRC noted it also bears responsibility for earlier missed issues and plans changes in QA monitoring nationwide.

Armstrong Homes zoning request denied by Clermont panel

George Armstrong seeks to move his mobile home business to the SR 32 Glen Este Williamsville site, requesting a B-7 zone change on about 12 acres in Union Township from A-1 and R-2. The planning commission opposed erosion concerns and noted a viable alternative, with the recommendation moving to the zoning board then trustees. Armstrong hopes for a visible site and may stay in Clermont County.

Lewis says he was shot down over mobile home issue

Batavia official Fran Calvin Lewis notes he supported Armstrong Homes' request only as a courtesy and that he did not want to be involved. He says he felt he was shot down and used as a trustee in the dispute over mobile homes.

Clermont County jail capacity raised to 72 prisoners

Clermont County officials, led by Commissioner Dale F Romohr, pressed for higher jail capacity. By using two person cells in modular units and existing facilities at Batavia, the count would rise to 48 in modular jail and 24 in the old jail. A federal order limited some beds, and the planned Justice Complex, due 1983, would hold 60 male and 12 female prisoners.

Two Men Arrested in Goshen Drug Raid

Two men were arrested in Goshen after a BCI undercover operation at a Waffle House parking lot on SR 28. BCI Superintendent Jack McCormick said the agency works closely with local authorities on drug and theft by deception cases.
