Two masked black men attempted a bank robbery at the Merchants and Farmers Bank in Williamsburg at 11 am. A clerk, Miss Mary Fuhr, triggered the burglar alarm and the robbers fled. Earlier, a dry goods store on H. McNutt & Co. was broken into. valuables worth a sum were taken before officers pursued suspects.

Harriet Armstrong formerly of Amelia and widow of Johnson Armstrong died at her niece Lou Aley’s home in Cincinnati on Friday aged 87. The pair were longtime Amelia residents. burial will be in Amelia on Sunday.

Death Warrant Issued for Scott Workman Execution
Clermont county received its first death warrant last Friday for Scott Workman in the murder of his wife Nora. The warrant orders transporting him to the Ohio Penitentiary and executing him by electric chair on March 81, 1927, with return to the clerk after the act. Warden’s return confirms the execution and names Cleveland visitors Paul W. Kranstauber and John Huntington.

Accident Claims Charles Pestrup on Grant Highway
Charles Pestrup aged 52 of Amelia was struck by a car driven by R D Woodmansee of Milan Indiana on the Grant highway Thursday noon and died en route to a city hospital. The body was taken to White funeral home New Richmond for burial preparations. Funeral services are set for Sunday in Amelia. Also noted is William B Borgels new advertising office in the Stern Building Cincinnati reflecting his career from Amelia High School 1918 to the Y M C A and his later rise in direct advertising.

Fritz Smith aged 40 of Stonelick township died by his own hand last Wednesday. He hanged himself in a barn at Galley Hill after a reconciliation attempt with his wife failed. He previously lived at the Miller Hotel Owensville with seven children from his first marriage. A widow survives.

Mrs Elizabeth Carpenter Werner of Batavia died at home on November 26 1926 after a long illness. A longtime member of the Presbyterian church and head of youth work she left behind her mother and sister and a circle of friends. Her funeral was held at her home with a Woman's Club memorial service and a eulogy by Miss Baum. The Batavia Woman's Club notes her leadership and service to the club and village life, praising her devotion to youth, library work, and uplift efforts.

Five delegates Mildred Moore Virginia Ashton Margile Haines Forrest Leever and Ruth Violett from Clermont County attended the 12th Annual State Boys and Girls 4 H Club Week in Columbus from November 15 to 20.
